We were over there yesterday and heading back now. We were crushing gags, snook, trout and tarpon on VUDU mullet and VUDU shrimp!

Usually fish Ft. Desoto but making a trip to Boca Grande in July for a week. Wondering where the good Kayak launches are for inshore species and possibly some beach tarpon?

Dcorc100, I'd reccomend getting an app called West Wall for all local yak launches in this area. It's free & its awesome. I'm not affiliated with them, I just use it. Specifically on Boca. U can launch Next to the Fishery restaurant, the boca fishing pier, or anywhere from the beach. U really can't go wrong. Hit me up when in town. Sub my channel if you haven't already my man. Thanks!

You find you get any bites on artificials? Ive gotten tons of topwater snook bites; cant' get any trout or reds on soft plastics though. Is live bait needed for this area?
@CaptainBadChad

Live bait is almost a guarantee in the right spots. I throw artificials from the beach, SpoolTeks, & other swim baits were good before the red tide. I just enjoy fighting them, so i usually opt for the bait that gives me the best odds...live bait that is!

@@CaptainBadChad I moved from bradenton to Placida; before red tide in bradenton would get bites all day on popping cork and soft plastics. After red tide popping corks havent seemed to work as well. I've had success on topwater here in placida/ boca grande but doing the same thing gets boring. Do you have any opinion on popping cork in this area after red tide? Or do they not seem to hit?

@@CaptainBadChad Most of the areas I've fished here; jig head alone just hits grass/weeds all day; not sure if you've had the same issue. I've tried weedless rigs on artificial just no hits.

It totally ruined our waters. At the moment though our fishery is making a comeback
