I love the way you break down a dock. You don't go straight to the sweet spots and disturb all the fish. You first hit the outside areas and then you hit the sweet spots. Great job!

I love the videos man great information. I’m a new boater and don’t know why way to well around the delta so I’m not sure where to go all the time. Is there anyway on your videos that you can just put coordinates to where you fish. Would really love to know where these spots are.
@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997

Thanks for the support Alberto. The entire Delta has fish-some spots are better than others. I have to be carleful giving coordinates because most of my spots have been passed on to me from other people. If you see me on the water make sure you stop and say Hi-I will be glad to give info on where I have been fishing. If you watch my videos just look at the area's I'm in and look for similar spots-you will find fish. If your still having problems in June hit me up and I will be glad to help point you in the right direction.

Hey Steve thanks a lot for the update. I’d love to go over weekly conditions. It would be very useful for us all. I fish the delta a lot and always upload my experiences. Living and fishing in Discovery Bay in a kayak , I almost only fish docks . Most of my success comes from skipping under the docks . I feel like a wacky rig or even a zoom super fluke works so well around the docks . If you can get behind the docks sometimes a drop shot works pretty well as well

When you drop your bait next to a dock do you leave the line open???
@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997

Every situation is different. Sometimes you can skip the bait under the dock. If you can't skip the bait you can try and feed line to thre bait to make sure the bait slides un under the dock. Thanks for the question. I may need to really go into detail on free line techniques. Thanks again.

Updates please! I’ve had plenty of experience fishing docks on the delta. Mostly I fish discovery bay as I only had a small aluminum Jon boat. I recently bought a fiberglass boat so I’ve been expanding my area and skipping most of the docks. I don’t know about going into the fall and fishing that area but early spring to just about fall you can fish those docks. 100% agree with the crusty old docks they hold more fish then the new. Disco bay gets sprayed at some point and it really slows down so watch out for that. I really liked your special dock baits. Thanks so much!!!

Thanks for the support-yea-docks are really great in the summer. I like fishing single docks when I find them-they seem to always be good for a few fish-I think a lot of fisherman pass them-it may be too much trouble for them to fish a single dock-if you check out my 30 lb. challand video I was fishing the docks in Sand Mound.

Thanks, great content! The old saying, “Know before you go” especially applies to the delta when it comes to safety. Can you offer advice on how anglers should safely traverse delta waters with which they are unfamiliar? Have you had bad experiences?
@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suppoer OG - my advice is to just slow down. If you want to run hard - stay on the main channel. Slow down in the sloughs and don't cut blind corners - use common sense. I have not had any bad experiences but know several anglers that have.

Hi Steve, glad you are back on the boat! Thanks for the fantastic video. Honestly, I am one of those that passes up the docks. I guess most videos I see are of docks that don't seem to float - instead they are like those at Clear Lake with giant wood pilings and lots of space from the dock to the water. Delta docks look like they are always right on the water so I don't feel confident that I can fish them. I will adjust that viewpoint and look for some of these. I actually have the cover craw but haven't tried it yet. Looks like a good place to give it a try. Would love to see the reports. I mean, I would LOVE to see them. I've been struggling on the delta in the last 2 weeks. I'm terrible at finding the fish when the water cools off and would love reports and tips on cold water delta fishing. I put my kayak away thinking that my season was probably over. Maybe you can encourage me to get it back down and get out there! :)

Awesome info Steve! I just moved down from Oregon, where I lived the last five years, but prior to that I lived in Fresno 29 years prior minus being stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in MO. I’ve watched fishing shows since I was a kid in MS, your show is second to none. Very informative very detailed. I purchased my first boat in fall 2018 after fishing years as a co-angler in tournaments. I’ve made two tips out on the Delta I can’t wait to try the techniques you’ve shared, especially the reverse rigging to get baits further under docks. I have only launched from Ladd’s any other suggestions?

Great video. Very helpful and I love to dock fish so if you have a follow up that goes into more detail: I’d love it. And yes - the weekly delta report would be huge! Particular some info on the vegetation and spraying. Quick question. What test line are you fishing weightless senkos /wacky rigs? I hooked up a pretty nice fish yesterday exactly on the inside corner of a dock. I fish the wacky rig on 7# FC Sniper. I couldn’t turn the fish and lost it.
