Awesome day with dad. I have a picture of my dad holding a huge cat that hung from his chest to his knees. I never got to fish or hunt with him because he died in a tragic trucking accident back in 59 when I was 1-1/2. I followed in his footsteps with my service in the military and love of the outdoors. RIP to all the departed dads.

Hey man, I love that you're starting to get excited by fly fishing! By the way, if you stop letting your fly line land before casting again every time and just keep it in the air you will avoid spooking a lot of fish. Letting the line hit the surface has the effect of tossing a rock at the fish. Good luck! I've been fly fishing for over a decade now. In my opinion a dry fly with a nymph beneath it would have been the go to there

Great video! I used to run jugs with my dad and grandpa and hope to get back to it someday. We always just tied the hooks straight to the mainline rather than a leader and never had an issue with breaking them off. I don't think the catfish care about the line visibility like our little green friends do. Try that method and see how you do.

Alright if LFD is going to jug line out of the kayak you need to give him a gopro so if he catches a gar we can see him take care of it. Also just for your info they make ling reach needle nose plyer looks like someone needs to capitalize on that idea for some gar handling plyers

If you use an electric knife right behind the hard gil fin. You go down to the spine and turn the blade and follow the spine the same way. If you leave the skin atached at the tail you can easily trim the meat off the skin and then move to the next fillet. Then at the end I remove the rib bones for me. My grandpa prefers the bones on it so either way works for that.

Quint : He can't stay down with three barrels. Not with three barrels, he can't. Make yourself a boat hook with a broom handle and a blunted 8/0 hook bound to one end. It's basically a gaff without a point, used for retrieving lines out of the water, pushing off from docks etc. Saves leaning over the gunwhale to grab the jugs. I'm glad to see you don't wrap the line around your hands. I've seen a guy have two fingers torn out at the knuckle when he wrapped the line around his hand trying to land a tuna. Puts a bit of a downer on the trip.
