I purchased the Yak Atack kit - originally did not want to drill on the kayak. But with the design of my kayak required me to upgrade my Amazon low priced kit. It was a great kit but since I needed to drill decided to upgrade. Nice video !

You are doing great things for budget minded people like myself. I came into two good paddle fishing kayaks and you’ve been a big help with prepping and planning out my fishing rig for seasons to come. Keep up the great work!

Excellent point regarding your paddle stroke and where to place the cleat. Used your logic when I installed a paddle clip on my boat. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome video. I did a DIY version on mine due to where i had to mount things and due to the shape of my yak.

I did the exact same thing 5 years ago. Keeping in mind im in canada and pieces for the diy anchor trolley and kit are much greater. Anyway the kit was $39.99 plus tax. It was a yak gear deluxe anchor kit with harken pulleys. The diy kit from home depot/boat shop was $55 plus tax without pulleys. The zig zag cleat was 19.99 plus tax on its own. Stainless hardwear is very expensive as well. The pulleys made all the difference for me. The kit was the clear winner.

Be interested in a cost comparison to eBay/AliExpress. If you buy the kit in a local brick and mortar store there would be more markup. Good comparison

Your salt water may have different affects on the pulleys. I used a kit BUT was quite surprised to find out (nowhere written in the instructions) that paracord will shrink after it gets wet once. The system was so tight after 1st use, I had to install new paracord after pre shrinking it.

I bought a similarly-priced kit off Amazon after seeing that the YakAttack kit was $60 or so--too rich for my blood! So far, the cheap Chinese kit is working well.

I went the DIY version with slightly better pulley's, also I did a rear only pulley system on one side, the other side is a full length pulley system.

I have the YakAttack kit and tie the tag end to a YakAttack cleat in front of me to my left. I use your recommended slip knot in case I need to detach quickly. I find that the rope sometimes gets hung up on the guides in the kit as I move the ring back and forth. Makes me think the guides aren’t worth it.

I did it myself and used 1/16th stainless cable and instead of pad eyes and pulleys i used stainless huskey tie downs (basically metal pad eyes and rings in one piece) smooth as silk and nothing to break... Total cost $19

The mistake I made with mine was pulling the cord too tight. I was afraid it would stretch but I pulled it so tight the cleat pulled out of the kayak the first time I used it.

Good point. The video was about installing the trolley but did not discuss why you need one. I need to provide a link to that in the pinned comment.
