Brilliant Paul. Gives us a little insight of what the fishing over here may have been like if we didn't sell our souls to Brussels in 1972!! Still, we will start to get it back in 5 years time, after Europe have hoovered our waters dry, 5 years later than promised after they bent Boris over a barrel and shafted him senseless.

Some great fish there mate. It’s deceptive because the halibut don’t look that big on camera, but when you feel the thickness of them in the flesh you can appreciate their size and weight. Thanks for the video Paul.

Cheers Colin, I think they probably maintain their fish stocks better than us, to take a quota from these waters you have to be fishing from one of these camps apparently & if you get caught even under a kilo over the limit, the fine is something like £800 also I suppose it's not easy to trawl these waters with all the jagged pinnacles beneath the surface & the water is deep just a little way offshore, like 50 metres within a couple of hundred yards!! Add to this the fact that you are hundreds of miles from any major urban agglomeration & you can see why it's still fairly untouched compared to other parts of Europe!

@@shorefishingessex trawling is banned in norway . The main reason fishing is so protected in Norway is simply put ,they do not need the money and see their fisheries as a sustainable resource rather than something to be exploited to make a few people very rich.As for fines they can go way up on that ,i know 4 guys who spent 2 days in prison , 78 thousand nok fine and 20 thousand on a solicitor .

That water looked cold...and black! Brr. Would hate to fall overboard. I watch a young woman from Florida who fishes then cooks. It’s all very similar to you in this video although the fish are different and it’s so warm, you want to fall in that water. We saw a bloke filleting a halibut and I wondered if he shared it with you. Also, do you just eat your catch there or do you filet and freeze it and take home with you? A very enjoyable video Paul. Cheers, Colin.

Cheers Colin, the halibut that we caught we shared amongst us four who shared the cabin & boat together so we didn't have any of that fella's halibut. We had massive cool boxes that we checked in as outsize luggage, we took a lot of food with us in them as Norway is such an expensive country, we had a quota of 19 Kilos of fish we could bring back so we brought some fish home with us, ruddy marvelous state of affairs if you ask me mate!!

@@shorefishingessex I hope your family likes fish especially coming from northern waters. I was in Washington DC a few weeks ago and bought some salmon from Iceland caught only the day before. Best I ever ate by far, almost sweet. I imagine the Norwegian fish was similar being so fresh and all. Many people envy you Paul. Great adventure, great mates (great drink) and great fish. Thanks for sharing. Cheers mate, Colin.

@@theobeukers I nearly missed this comment but this was my first time in Norway, apparently this time of year is good for the coalfish & halibut but not so good for cod (March is good for cod so I'm told) The people at Sportsquestholidays.com should have more answers, tell them I sent you!! All the best.

I dread to think how much a beer is in Norway, 20 years ago I bought a beer and a piece of pizza in Oslo airport and it was £24.00 (it was a half of beer)
