For people asking, yes they do come greased out of the box, however, it’s not the best applied grease if that makes sense. I just got mine, followed this video exactly, and I feel better greasing certain areas that didn’t get a good amount from factory. Obviously for $40-$60 bucks the QC will be inconsistent, so mine may have been a outlayer or the standard. I don’t know. I advise everyone to break it down new, and see for yourself, but hell, it’s your gear, time, experience on the water.

Folks, just do what Greg does. Doesn't matter what reel or what manufacturer. Usually there are gobs of grease here and there. There are reel cleaning vids and info online. Search alantani.

Does this come greased from the factory? How often do you have to do this (disassemble and grease) process? What kind of grease? I thought you just added oil to the hole under the screw and you were set. Do I need to oil other places as well like this shows? How often? I thought this was supposed to be easy maintenance?

Ok so I know how to do maintenance now, what about when and why to do it? What about the oil hole? Is that a lie? When to use oil vs grease? So many questions, so few answers

I bought both 7.1 and 5.3 3 months ago. I use for saltwater mainly and rinse after every trip. I noticed some bearings started to rust and these are definitely not stainless steel bearings. Greased and oils that I'm hoping for the best the rest of the season.

I did not see you put any Grease on the main gear are the pinon gear. I always grease my gears. and the oil hole you have on the side of the real cover. I am sure people are going to fill it up with oil and it's going to run out of the reel for a long time. Maybe a better video that shows how to perform maintenances on a reel and not just how to take it apart and put it back together.

Can i get your opinion on which is the better reel between the torrent and persseus? I am not sure which one to buy. I was going to buy the phantom but aliexpress asks 127 dollars to ship it to South Africa where shipping was free a few days ago. I have to noe choose between the 2 reels mentioned.

@@Piscifun Great reels, I have the Phantom and 2 Phantom Xs, the blue and the red. Very impressed so far. The blue low gear ratio Phantom X is fantastic for deep diving cranks, even big ones like the KVD 6XD. The Phantom and red Phantom X I mainly use for top water frogs, spooks and jerk baits.

I just got this reel. Can someone please tell me why it screeches when I cast? It was fine for the first 10 or so casts then it started making this noise. Nothing in the instructions said it needed to be oiled before use. I did after it started making the noise. It went away for a little bit but started back up. I've only gotten to use it for a few hours total over the past week. Thinking of returning it.

Was this reel ever saltwater approved? I bought it about a yr ago and was told by reply by piscifun saying it was. Not even a month after use it was grinding, opened it up and main drive gear was already corroded lol. Alot of guys here in San Diego use this reel extensively for salt and don't have issues. Well, expect mine did, just curious :)

I’ve got 5 of them and before I even put them on my rods I oil and grease everything with water resistant grease even the carbon washers. Saltwater fish 3-5 times a year for a week each time and I just wash them off when I get back to the motel. My oldest is 6 years old and still runs like new.
