You're welcome and thanks for watching! Hope it helped. More vids to come. Next up is how a Penn Slammer fared during hurricane Ian. Spread the word about the channel.

The thinnest oil seemed to perform best, but over the long haul the higher viscosity oil would cling to the balls a little better. Maybe.

I don't reall know. My skill/intelligence level is no way near that high to figure those things out. However, what I do know, is that the added "slipper-ri-ness" I may get from TSI wouldn't necessarily (not saying that I wouldn't ever) sway me to use it, especially since I'm based more in the saltwater arena.

I read an 11 time casting comp champion only used 3in1 oil. Dont over think it and dont over spend. Ive used NRP origional zoom spout turbine oil for 15 years with no issue at all at 3$ for 118ml.

Thanks for watching and contributing. I know people like that also, but usually old salts who didn't have any other option back in the day when supply was not as good as it is today. There's always a choice.... one can always choose the level of risk they want to take. Spread the word about the channel.

@TSGReelService I thank you. I'm curious as I don't have to think about anything but freshwater where I live. Are there different requirements from oils and grease used in salt water applications vs freshwater?

@@mikelalonde6874 You're welcome and no worries. Yes, somewhat, regarding salt vs fresh. In some of my tutorial videos, I point certain areas where one could use oil, instead grease. That being said, the old salts I was referring to in my first response to you are fishing in saltwater, and still use 3-in-1.... gunks up the reel when mixed with saltwater, but usually no significant damage beyond that.... I guess the moral of the story is any kind of oil (to a certain extent) is infinitely better than none. Thanks again for the conversation.

I use 321 on all my spool bearings. That said, starting with a clean bearing and not over lubing are more important than which oil one uses. JMTCW.

Thanks for watching! I get where you're going, but I sooooo want to disagree with that old adage about the amount of oil..... I think any excess gets "spun" out, but I'm not technical enough to argue (nor prove) the point. Maybe I'll try one day. More vids to come, spread the word about the channel.

That was a very interesting oil speed test. Any chance you will test reel greases in the near future? Have a nice Sunday. Tad

Not a bad idea, but I think it's a little trickier testing greases. People like and look for different things when it comes to grease, plus the long term net effect of such... not to mention the multitude of greases out there. I'll add it to my to do list, as a long term project. Thanks Tad!

It seems like all oil is very close in quality. I might just pick one that has the best applicator. Lucas Oil and the Lews Reel Oil made by Lucas Oil have the best applicator tips. Now.... what about the grease, Saltwater grease.

I agree with the tip comment.... I like their metal applicators also. However, I do feel from an absolute standpoint, the TSI is awesome..... though it might be too thin for some applications. Thanks for the suggestion on reel greases.... stay tuned.... I put it on my videos to do list. Spread the word about the channel.
