Midsummer can be tough for a bass fisherman. Post spawn has scattered fish throughout the lake and water temps climb pushing them deep. Not to mention you can jump from boat to boat across the lake without getting your feet wet. This summer I abandoned my usual tactic of catching bass actively feeding on baitfish, lots of action but most are dinks. So far I've boated bigger average size with a couple 4-5lb chunks fishing after dark. I'm still learning as I go but fish have been easier to locate, feeding patterns are more predictable, and the bite is much more aggressive.
