I gig solo and duo. (acoustic guitar and sing in each) For years I've been plugging into a powered PA cabinet. I bought a mini two days ago. Haven't gigged it yet, just playing solo in the living room and duo in a garage. This thing is great. More than enough power for restaurant/bar patio. If I need more, the XLR out can run to a PA cabinet. (and XLR out is PRE master..nice!) There is something special about the guitar channel. Seems to benefit from the channel being designed specifically for acoustic guitar. The focus of the tone and perhaps a little bit of built in compression. When I got it, I literally played for 5 seconds and could tell the positive difference compared to my PA cabinet. I can use it alone for guitar/vocal for smaller gigs. I can use it as a guitar amp only and plug mic into the PA. I can use the mini as a monitor, and XLR out to the pa....lots of mix/match choices. I should have bought this years ago.

I'm glad it was helpful. I am enjoying the Loudbx Artist more than the Mini Charge even though the Mini Charge served me well. when I hit the limits of the mini charge several times, I knew I needed a more powerful and slightly larger amp. I sold the mini charge after making this demo. In hindsight I wish I would have used my Martin D-18 for the demo since it is ever richer than the Taylor. This Taylor got sent back too, A bit too bright and lean for me.

I think for pure sound, the Artist will breathe more due to its added power rating and bigger speaker, but the Mini Charge sounds good and it has the great benefit of being able to be used without a power cord in places you might not have access to power outlets. I love that. So it may not reach as large an audience (it's plenty loud for many situations), but it's good and versatile.

This was a helpful comparison for me. I've had the mini for several years and wondered if I might like the Artist more. I use the LR Baggs Align Session pedal to craft the mini more to my liking. Around 8:00 you mentioned that you scooped the mids on the Artist. Did you also have the mids scooped on the mini? The larger speaker and tweeter on the Artist definitely give a fuller sound in my opinion. thanks for posting.

Thanks for the helpful video. The treble on the mini seems a bit sparkley to me, and not as crisp on the Artist. I have to get an acoustic amp soon before my $200 off coupon expires. I'm glad this helped. I agree the Artist sounds best. I really only needed the Mini. The Artist however is more musical and capable and it's not a lot bigger. I got mine with one of the 15% holiday discounts. That took some of the cost increase down a bit. The 614CE Builders Edition is a Superb guitar and honestly a much better value, dollar-for-dollar compared to something like the K14CE. I wound up returning this K14CE. Couldn't get it to play buzz free without doing $200 of fret leveling. Just one of those things.

@jeffbellin8224

I'm doing a comparison of the S1 Pro+ and Mini Charge. With only using the built-in treble and bass controls or presets (microphone/instrument), the Mini Charge sounds more natural. The Bose has a tipped top end and low end, typical of the Bose sound. Not unpleasant, but it's not natural. It sounds cupped to me while the Mini sounds more open. There's less rendering of inner harmonic detail on the Bose. The Bose will render the feel of greater weight (the Artist will render more similarly), but my various ukuleles sound more like themselves via the Mini than the Bose, and my vocal tonality is also more accurately rendered. If you like the "Bose sound", you'll be fine with the S1 Pro+, and it's certainly really versatile.

This was a great comparison! Thank you. I'm unloading some electric gear; amps, guitars, pedals, and focusing more on acoustic performance. I like the idea of a battery powered amp, should you need it for quick grab-n-go situations, but I also like the fuller, richer sound of a bigger, higher-wattage amp. Maybe have to get both? lol. Actually, I'm leaning towards the mini charge with the addition of a larger powered PA speaker for bigger rooms. Would love to hear from others who have used the mini as a stage monitor and what your impressions are. Thanks!

Thanks for all your comparison vids...fantastic playing as well...goals! I just purchased a used Artist from Guitar Center but after seeing your comparison vids of the mini vs the S1 pro, I wonder if I made the right decision. I'm a Singer Songwriter and I love the sound I'm getting so far on the Artist but the S1 pro having the battery seems very useful. Most of the videos I've seen, it seems like s1 pro's vocals don't get very loud. I also don't love there's no mids or phantom power. The sound seems more processed but I don't hate it either from watching your vids...really torn what to do here...would love to know what you think...thank you!
