The best approach to Oshkosh on the net. Very intense and well flown and the co-pilot did a great job making sure your flight was cleared of other aircraft, great job.

@@carlwilliams6977 they need to respond as to why they both smiled at that request. I’m guessing that since they were a flight of three that their friends in the Comanche were not turning as quickly as ATC wanted them to.

When the tower said, "Cherokee turn your base", we laughed because #3 in our flight was a Beechcraft Musketeer (looks a lot like a Cherokee) and gets offended when ATC calls him a "Cherokee". It happens so frequently that it's now a running inside joke.

Great video, I like watching videos of pilots flying to EAA (that's what most of us locals call it). I'm not a pilot, just wondering if the altitude is 1800 feet 90 knots at Ripon? I believe the train tracks run along Highway 44 and looks like it would be a fun ride from Oshkosh to Ripon seeing the flight line. Gonna be at Airventure 2023? aka EAA.
@CaptScafe
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The procedure for our type of aircraft is to fly up the railroad tracks from Ripon to Fisk (and ultimately OSH) at 1800ft and 90kts. I bet if you were somewhere along those tracks in that area the Sat and Sun before the show starts you could see a lot of planes! We plan on being one of them in a couple weeks for '23!

@@CaptScafe Thanks for replying, I was at Fisk Approach control last year. I just thought it would be fun to be driving down the road and seeing the planes flying into Oshkosh besides standing in one place watching the planes fly by. I'll try it. I'll be at Airventure 2023 1 or 2 days not sure what days, I have vacation at work that week so I can decide what day(s) to go. Safe travels to you and enjoy Airventure 2023.

It looked pretty straight forward, monitor correct freq, rock your wings, follow the plane in front of you, land on your dot! Question, it appeared some folks were cutting the line?? Oshkosh is a bucket list item, going to bring the RV (motorhome) next year and the RV7A the year following... cant wait! Thanks for the video.
@CaptScafe
Жыл бұрын
A couple planes decided to begin the approach in a different place than what ATC designated as the starting point. The procedure is not too complicated if you read the NOTICE ahead of time and follow directions.
@dandlac

@@CaptScafe Thanks...it astonishes me that there are people up there with us who would fail to realize, and prepare for, a published approach where you have so many aircraft in close proximity to one another, especially with GPS routing and magenta lines! ATC should probably vector them around for awhile, something like "contact approach for sequencing..." How was the process for departing?

I would worry about a bunch of VFR pilots, some with dubious flying ability, following procedures (altitude, speed, visual checkpoints) properly and not mucking things up culminating in a midair.
