Ha! We were just there August 2021. Saw all the places you filmed. What a beautiful place in our great country. We had 8 days so we also did a day trip over to Devils Tower in Wyoming. Crazy Horse museum and monument was also outstanding. Loved the people there also. Lots of patriotism. Got into 4 Buffalo jams, fed the Begging Burros, saw big horn sheep and pronghorn in Custer. The whole area is exceedingly clean and relatively litter free. Hiked 50 miles total including Little Devils Spur, Black Elk Peak, The Cathedral Spires, Buzzards Roost and also Spearfish. Even met some hikers that were Lakota and spoke with them at length. Lots of other activities too much to mention, a must do place that is much, much more than just Mt Rushmore. And yes, it makes you very proud…..

We did a similar trip in June. Just amazing. Spent 4 days in Custer and that place was awesome. So many things to do in that region makes for excitement to go back and do some of the other things. We were fortunate at Custer to see a mountain goat on the needles highway. We were lucky to stop and ask people why they were looking away from the scenic viewpoint and they pointed to the goat. For those with kids reading comments the Badlands National Park is great for younger kids. You are allowed to hike and walk anywhere so they can climb all the rocks they want. I find myself looking back at the pictures wanting to go again soon. Custer also has a lot of kids activities if parents are reading. Junior naturalist program was very good. They also have a climbing wall where they give instructions for kids to learn the basics.

Based mostly on trips I had seen you share. Doing research on the Black Hills area has it high on my list and thus my particular excitement for this series of videos. Randy, as always, a great job of filming a beautiful place. While you were there, did you have the opportunity to sample some of the unique SD cuisine? When I was there in '20, I had beef tips chislic. It was really good! Altogether there are at least 10 foods you can't find anywhere else in the country. There's a website that can be googled (since I can't remember the name of it at the moment). Last year, I was making a mad dash home, and didn't have the chance to stop at Custer S.P. I really wish I had.

South Dakota does not get it's due. We drove the Black Hills this summer. I was completely stunned by the beauty. I really wanted to stop in the park itself, but maybe next time 😀. We went to Mount Rushmore, as well. Definitely a sense of patriotism when you're there. Beautiful work of art.... and the Badlands... we were so amazed. We went through Custer State Park and saw the "needles", which are breathtaking, too. My second time in Custer and we didn't see one buffalo either time we went. Lol. But the Badlands- before we were even "checked into" the park, we saw a herd of Buffalo and multiple prairie dogs. So cool. And scenery is just spectacular. Other- worldly. I was so amazed to realize that the lines/ striations on the stone were water lines from over the years. To realize that all of that was under water was just mindblowing. God never ceases to amaze me with his works of art.

This was a trip I really wanted to do in September but put it on hold...maybe next year. I really wanted to do Custer State, Mt Rushmore & other parts of the Black Hills. Your slow drive through a Bison walkabout reminded one of one of my trips to Yellowstone. A herd of Buffalo was leisurely walking down the road, a couple in the middle of the road. There was a line of cars at a crawl in front of me & several behind. Suddenly a car behind me pulled out and accelerated past the line, coming very close to one bison. I couldn't believe it! There never is a policeman ( or a park ranger ) when you need one. I was flabbergasted...some people just don't deserve our wonderful parks. Sorry for the rant but I'm sure you get it! Can't wait to see upcoming individual episodes!

Plenty of people in SD complain that not much happens there (i.e. concerts) but the amount of wild is absolutely amazingly and I'll miss living there but definitely found more woods to explore.
