One Argument For Euthanasia: IT'S MY CHOICE.

Who on earth does this lightly but when you see some one suffering & there is not anything medically can be done just let people die - I know it is totally different but when I had my gorgeous Border Collies that could not walk anymore through old age ...I had the vet came down & put them to sleep in my kitchen - it broke my heart but had to be done - I wish we could do that with old people - my 88 year old father lived in a old peoples home & I would not wish that on anyone towards the end of their life - it was horrendous !!

Euthanasia is a difficult topic to discuss and is very polarized on both sides of the aisle. It is also extremely unfortunate that indecision in regards to the topic is resulting in the suffering of many people. I feel that euthanasia is not an ethical practice. While I do feel that Euthanasia is the ultimate respect of patient autonomy, the ethical principles of Beneficence and Non-maleficence are violated by the providers. The principles of Beneficence and Non-maleficence are extremely similar and intertwined. According to the American Dental Association Beneficence basically means “do good” and Non-maleficence means “do no harm”. I believe that by participating in the practice of Euthanasia both of these principles are fundamentally violated by physicians. While I do still feel that patient autonomy is of utmost importance I do not think that it warrants doctor’s violating the the other two principles. I feel that doctors violating the principles of non-maleficence and beneficence will result in the foundation of trust between patients and doctors being greatly damaged. This in turn could lead to reduced overall patient satisfaction with physicians and potentially damage health outcomes for patients. I also personally believe that physicians should not have to feel the guilt or ethical dilemma that could arise from the active ending of another human beings life. I would also assert that even though a patient undergoing euthanasia is a willing participant the active participation of the physician could be considered murder. I do feel that assisted suicide does offer a viable loophole to the ethical dilemma. I feel if the physician is not actively participating the principle of patient autonomy is fully respected, and the principles of beneficence and non-maleficence are not fully honored in my opinion, but at the very least they are not actively violated. I feel like this distinction between assisted suicide and euthanasia is splitting hairs, but does offer a “more acceptable” alternative. In the end I do feel like euthanasia is a practice that should not be employed by physicians because it violates the ethical principles of Beneficence and Non-maleficence. This violation of these ethical principles will result in the degradation of trust in the doctor patient relationship. I do feel that assisted suicide offers a viable alternative because autonomy is respected and Beneficence and non- maleficence are not “actively” violated by the physician.

Euthanasia yes. But voluntary euthanasia is better than throwing ones self under a lorry and causing more stress for family and winesses and more hassle for police and ambulances. A right to chose to die peacefully in ones own environment is kind and sensible.

Some people attempted to get me to be euthanized but I refused and certain people tried everything but thanks to an order respecting my rights as a human being that I quickly signed, nobody could make me get euthanized. The order respecting my rights is still in place and will remain in effect forever

Why do I have the right to be born but not the right to end my life? Selfishness is when one forces another to do what they want even if they don't want to. You cant force someone to live a life that they don't want to live simply because you think someone has a future. Regardless if they do have a future if its not a future that the person wants then its not a future at all. Let us be realistic if someone truly was against suicide and they want people to live then guess what you have to provide for the suicidal person until they see fit. If you don't want to do that then you must allow them to end their lives. Really think about this. How can suicide be selfish if people who are trying to prevent suicide from happening put the suicidal person through more problems then what they already have? It's not that the suicidal person is selfish, its the people trying to prevent the suicidal person from ending their life are selfish. You cant force someone to live simply on a question mark because you don't know what future the person has. I will always support legalizing suicide as well as assisted suicide. You're selfish if you don't. Besides, we all die eventually anyway. People just need accept it because remember. Denying something that exists makes life more difficult to live through.

Decent Loser most people who are terminally ill don’t request euthanasia or kill themselves for the pain and agony they feel, but for the indignity they might feel or for feeling like a burden. pride is the main factor that leads them to euthanasia or suicide.
