Honey, Stevia, dates and all the rest are still sugar. Instead it’s better to use sugar substitutes like spices, i.e. cardamom and coriander. These two sweeten and add flavor. Rose water and orange water also add sweetness and all that I mentioned add FLAVOR! I encourage people to look for flavor instead of sweet. Sugar/sweet is not a flavor. However the spices and waters that I mentioned add delicious and delightful flavor to everything you add them to. Also, almond and coconut extracts are also great sweeteners. All that I had mentioned are great sugar substitutes and they contain little to no calories, no fat and some contain great health and medicinal benefits. While the substitutes may not be the same as the sugars that you mentioned in terms of flavor, we really need to train our pallet not to look for or expect so much sweet, rather we should expect more in terms of flavor. All that I mentioned are great flavor enhancers, as well as add sweetness. I hope those that are really looking to replace sugar get to try some of these suggestions.

People are over consuming high fructose corn syrup - HFCS? That statement is miss leading. Nobody buys just HFCS and adds it to their food like you would white sugar or salt and pepper. If you eat process foods, snacks, canned foods, frozen dinners, soft drinks, sodas, flavored teas, sport drinks and flavored water, they all contain HFCS added by the manufacturer. HFCS is ubiquitous in all processed foods and if you consume such things then you cannot avoid it. HFCS is a poison - and worse for your health than any other sugar. It is metabolized in your body differently than other sugars and makes you get fatty liver disease quickly. So the fault lies with the manufacturers just as much with the consumers. They only way for you to avoid HFCS today - is if you buy all the fresh ingredients and make things from scratch. When I cut HFCS from my diet I couldn't buy 95% of the items in the supermarket. I had to go back to making everything from scratch
@MrDoctorlove993
7 жыл бұрын
People consume more HGCS because it's already added to a lot of every day things. It's in all soft drinks. It's everywhere, even in juices. That's how it's the most consumed, it's not a misleading statement. It's true. Nobody pours white sugar into their drinks because it "looks bad". Instead, they get drinks that already have it in there and choose to forget about the sugar contents.

Hi Dr Josh Axe if its Ok I would like to correct a couple of your statements? Nectar bearing flowers do not produce pollen that commonly causes allergies. Pollen allergies are most commonly caused by none nectar bearing plants such as birch, conifer & pine which bees do not visit to collect nectar. The likely hood of allergy causing pollen being present in natural honey is low. You are correct that many honey brands filter pollen out of honey. The reasons are as follows.. 1. Lack of pollen makes it hard to identify the source of the honey, pollen is one of 9 or so factors used to identify the honey variety. 2. The presence of pollen in honey that has naturally high glucose levels acts as a catalyst that causes honey to crystallise. For liquid honey honey packers are better to select honey with a naturally low glucose fructose ratio. This can be achieved by selecting honey collected from specific floral sources. Finally using a subjective word ie "Raw" to describe honey that is undamaged by heat can be misleading as shoppers are not able to substantiate the claim by looking at the honey easily. The example I give as a comparison is raw broccoli which could be freshly picked or left outside during summer for 48hrs is still be raw. With fruit or vegetables the quality is immediately visible. For honey consumers cannot make the same judgment. The best way to check if the honey has been damaged by heat is to measure the HMF level (HydroxyMethylFurfuraldehyde) a natural compound found in very low levels in honey that is undamaged by heat. HMF levels increase with temperature increases and time www.airborne.co.nz/hmf.shtml There are some honey varieties that exhibit very low naturally present glucose & fructose levels and are a great sugar substitute. Good work raising the profile of honey.

@chikon2883

@modestoca25

@@chikon2883 molasses is actually one of the few sweeteners with a significant amount of several minerals like calcium, plus it lends flavor to cookies and breads. Maple syrup has a little nutrition as well, especially the darker versions. Honey has very little mineral nutrition but has some enzymes and helps with allergies if you get honey local to your area. Fructose is NOT a toxin, fruit has fructose...I think you are thinking of high fructose corn syrup which is less healthy but still not "toxic". Rice malt syrup wouldn't be much better than corn syrup.

Many maple syrups sold at the supermarkets contain HFCS - before you buy read the ingredients - even if it says 100% natural etc. Always read the ingredients labels and if it says corn syrup - that means HFCS - which is made from US GMO corn. Most of the corn syrup and HFCS used by manufactures is made from the cheapest corn in the world - which is the ubiquitous - nearly impossible to avoid - US GMO corn.

@@giutubospatubo1546 I still did NOT hear ARTIFICIAL flavors mentioned @ 3:55??? Raspberry, vanilla, etc. can be extracted naturally and infused or dehydrated and added. I buy fresh raspberries and use them in multiple ways and I also buy vanilla beans and make my own natural flavoring, delicious as well, and use it in a lot of foods. - If I am wrong in all of this I guess you win . . . . take a bow!

As long as you're consuming Green-leaf stevia, it's a great substitute sweetener.

Using agave and brown rice syrup are both worse than using plain white sugar. At least brown sugar is better, and not pricey.

AYURVEDA is the best knowledge for healthy and energetic life. Till 60's and 70's in our INDIAN villages our ancestors were using these alternatives as daily consumption as people before industrialization and Western effect were living their lifestyle as described in INDIAN Mythology. Sad these money become every thing to overshadowed natural lifestyle and it diminishing the real and actual knowledge of AYURVEDA.
