Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit kzitem.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

I like doing the crocodile rock when the laker bite is on . Tubes work well but my go to lure is a silver croc. The silver crocodile imitates the shiners and Lakers can't resist it .

Great video! How do you work the jig on both polls? I had planned to jig with one, probably a tube, and have one that could be more stationary. Could you make a recommendation?

Gord, FYI Rapala designed the "Snap Rap" for perch in Europe - not their Walleye/Zander. One thing - cut off that from hook and you have an open water fishing machine that is relatively snag resistant. I'm on my 3rd year fishing them, and catch ratios are nicely improved. Good Video~ Love those Lakers~

Thanks for this video. Question . How do you connect these baits to your monofiliment tippit? Do you prefer to tie directly to the bait or use a snap clip swivel type connection. Thanks again.
@CanadianAnglingAdventures

I like to tie my tubes direct via a Palomar knot. I am a little less particular when I am using action type baits - then I might also use a snap. Most of the tie, though, I tie direct.

what pound test do you typically use when fishing for lake trout. I have only ice fished twice and we just went for Perch. I will be fishing on lake Simcoe, if that helps for the size of the fish available

How about Alaska lakers? It seems that most guys are using tube jigs, white, white with red head, sparkly greenish gold color. I feel like I have a good idea what jigs to use, but lack experience of how to jig them. Also they use whitefish as bait

Important to note: some lakes in Ontario only allow one rod when angling through the ice. It's necessary to check regulations before fishing any water-body.

Also important to note: some lakes in Ontario allow two rods, so your original comment was unnecessary.

What I would assume with the last fish lure is that it may have a tendency to hook the edge of ice while landing a fish , but good video all the same.

Gord, could you touch a little on weights..1/4,3/8,1/2,3/4,1oz, for the tube jigs and for the Williams spoons, please.

A lot depends on the size of the trout re: spoons - bigger when the trout are bigger, smaller when they're more moderate in size. Lighter jig heads (1/4 - 1/2 ounce) usually give tubes the best fall / movement.
