You’re by far the best teacher I’ve been able to find. One of the things I find to be most helpful is that when you’re teaching it is so important to use the stabbing method. Something in my brain has a very hard time following people who use the sewing method. I just can’t follow it. Also, this has been one of my favorite tutorials as I absolutely love the feather stitch in all its beauty. Thank you

These threads here Barbara: They are called Lana and are 50% wool, 50% Acrylic so they feel like wool but don't break all the time! www.sarahhomfray.com/myshop/cat_1116427-Madeira-Lana.html

I was wondering I'm new to embroidery I have done a few kitchen towels. But I was wondering are there different stitches when you do kitchen towels because the back side people can see. As when you do something to frame they don't. I have looked and looked for videos but they never show the back to see what they look like. I was wondering if you might do a video of stitches for kitchen towels or decoration towels for the bathroom.🙄🤩
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery
3 жыл бұрын
As long as you start and finish your threads neatly Zoila, it shouldn't matter too much about the back. If you bought a commercially stitched item it would just show the back of the embroidery as is. There is a technique called Both Sides Alike which I might tackle in a video one day; it is quite an advanced technique so it will take some time to work out how to film it! You could also consider designs just done in outlines then you could use a stitch called Holbein stitch which is the same on the front and the back

The first and third are my favorites; I think they are so delicate and pretty. The fourth one gives me watery vibes. Before adding the second layer, I thought it looked like mermaid scales. After the second layer was added, my brain pictures fan coral.

Sarah you have truly inspired me to this art of slow stitching beautiful things. I have come to love the sound of the thread popping through a hooped canvas as you stitch. I never used to use the hoop as it seemed to be so more laborious than the sewing method. But now in my old age I am no longer in such a hurry. I have come to admire the methodical precision of stitching in the hoop. And I too have a ginger cat who sits on my thread or in my lap swatting at the thread as it goes by. (Grrrr. )

Thank you Sarah! I love the last one with the hearts & beads, I'm thinking about using it in 2 projects I'm planning, the 1st one is I wanna stitch it on both sides of this cute denim pants I bought for my niece, I'll stitch it all the way down. And the 2nd one I will stitch it on a white satin ribbon and use it to thread this cute lace crocheted head band I made for my other baby niece. Thank you for the ideas, I will use them all eventually. God Bless you and your family. From Michelle, USA
