I recently rediscovered a recording I made of the 'Five Peace Band' performance in London 2008. The band (Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, Kenny Garrett, Christian McBride and Vinnie Colaiuta) played an astounding set and this composition by John was at the end of the first half. As you'll hear, there's wonderful improvisatory interplay between the musicians starting with the incomparable Chick Corea. Kenny Garrett takes the temperature down and gets back to pure Blues with a sparse yet emotionally charged soulful solo before John ramps things up, setting the scene for Vinnie to unleash! It's a great performance. The audience reaction is testament to that! The audio quality is sadly not top notch but I've tried to make it as good as I can. I've included Chick's introduction and all the applause at the end, hopefully it helps put you in the room :)
My respects to Chick Corea who sadly departed recently, but heartfelt thanks for all the music you brought into the world. Rest In Peace sir.
