I kinda miss Fallen Comrades, when the final 3 or whatever would be forced to journey through the rundown of everyone who's gone. The best part was when they would have to eulogize them, forced to say something nice about the people they hated, or dredge up memories of people they barely had contact with.

To this day (a year after starting to watch the show lol) retiring that system is probably the most confused I have ever been about a decision by the producers. What was wrong with the system? @@firstname405 oh yikes. Well when he returns in Game Changers, tl;dr in a moment of foolishness of which he immediately regretted (genuinely), at Tribal Council as he was trying to convince the tribe not to vote him, he somehow decided to bring up one of his tribe mates (Zeke) as having not yet told the others he was transgender, as a point to show his ability for deception. It's clear he didn't actually intend to mean that transgender people were deceptive (he himself is gay and a supporter of LGBTQ+ rights), but rather thought that Zeke was open in his life about being trans and for some reason hadn't shared it at camp yet. Regardless it's an iconically cringe-worthy moment in his life that resulted in an emotional tribal council, and him unceremoniously letting himself get voted out (his own "vote" included, though they didn't actually get up to vote, it became out loud), and rippling into his real life.

Do people really feel no shame when they minimize these situations, you went on for a paragraph explaining away Varners actions when all we need to hear is "Varner outed Zeke against his will" you could add that Zekes trans, you could add it was on live tv in a silly game show for a million dollars, you could add any details you want about the situation. I really miss the “remember the fallen” walk they forced the final 3 to do, it was a nice breather after breakneck strategy and helped build anticipation for the finale to come, as well as remind us who was even in the season. Seeing the first boot’s face flash up as the final 3 were forced to say literally ANYTHING they remembered about them after 30+ days was comedy gold and I wish they had found some way to streamline it so it could still happen. Less 10 minutes and more 3, with the same impact of “I barely remember this person but here’s some dramatic statement anywayyyy” as we wait with bated breath for the finale

I love how Jeff used to say "the rest [of the unread votes] will remain a mystery" because it's so unnecessarily dramatic?? Double posting, but the "not showing all votes" thing wasn't entirely gone until at least after SJDS. In Micronesia when Mikey B went home, the initial vote was 4-4-1 (4 Mikey, 4 Chet, 1 Jason), which was removed from the broadcast with the revote edited with Chet/Mikey's votes to be shown. In SJDS, when Jon was voted out, Missy voted for Jaclyn on the revote, but they only showed the 2 Jon votes.

Don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion but I’ve always felt like the old tie breaker system (where in a tie the castaway with the most previous votes goes home) should return. They should have kept a vote tie breaker being whoever had more total votes from all tribals. It makes the game soooo much more dynamic. It makes it riskier to split votes. It makes it riskier to throw an immunity challenge because someone would get stray votes. I have always hated fire making being the new tie breaker. It's fine as a reward or immunity challenge, but it's boring as a tie breaker. I find it to be way more entertaining to see players fight trying to keep themselves from getting any votes and keeping track of how many votes each person has.
@freddytang2128

Could the "not showing stray votes" thing just be a matter of saving time on the edited TV show? Perhaps they did show every vote in the actual game, but producers tried to save 5 seconds here and there by not showing unimportant votes on TV? Perhaps Varner just forgot the other vote he got?

I'm pretty sure it's just a TV thing, for example Terry is the lone vote for Aras MULTIPLE tribals in s12 and most of the time it's not shown except in the credits - but Aras remarks that he's sick of getting voted for by Terry every tribal.
