If you are experiencing laptop fan noise, it may be due to dust or debris buildup inside the fan. Here's how you can fix the issue and disassemble an HP Pavilion M6 for fan cleaning:
Materials you will need:
* Screwdriver set
* Compressed air canister
* Thermal paste (optional)
Steps:
1. Turn off your laptop and unplug it from the power source.
2. Flip the laptop over and remove the battery.
3. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws on the bottom of the laptop. Keep track of where each screw goes, as they may be different sizes.
4. Once all the screws are removed, gently pry off the bottom cover of the laptop.
5. Locate the fan and heat sink assembly. It will be a large metal piece with fins and a fan attached to it.
6. Use a compressed air canister to blow out any dust or debris that may have accumulated on the fan and heat sink. Hold the canister about 6 inches away from the fan and heat sink to avoid damaging any components.
7. If the fan is still making noise after cleaning, you may need to replace it. In this case, remove the screws holding the fan to the heat sink and unplug the fan from the motherboard. Replace the fan with a new one and reassemble the laptop.
8. If you had to remove the heat sink, clean the old thermal paste off the CPU and heat sink with a lint-free cloth and rubbing alcohol. Apply a small amount of new thermal paste to the CPU before reattaching the heat sink.
9. Reassemble the laptop by following the steps in reverse order. Make sure all screws are tightened and the bottom cover is snapped into place.
10. Turn on your laptop and listen for any fan noise. If the noise is gone, your laptop fan is now fixed.
Note: If you are not comfortable disassembling your laptop or working with electronics, it is recommended to take your laptop to a professional for repair.
