Thank you, nice trick. More sophisticated then my ducktape 'trick'. Just another thing, any tips on loose kingpins? i hammered in some glasfibre and ran some PU glue into it. For pumping and carving wiggling trucks are terrible. And hardware is expensive. Why not fix everything ourselves, it's good for the technical skills and the creativity. There will be haters, the rich kids but they even don't know ho to hold a screwdriver for instance.

What caused your kingpins to be loose in the first place? Is that loose from the manufacture? If so, the trucks are probably cheap. It's always better to get secondhand trucks rather than new cheap ones. Where exactly is the slop located?

I was having a hard time trying to find a new pivot cup in town, this will be a handy solution. Another problem with my skateboard is that its trucks were probably fixed not straight. So it turns to one side gradually. I try to loosen the truck and re-tighten, but it doesn't solve the problem. An advice on this will be appreciated. Thank you.

If your trucks turn differently on each side, you have to check if they are not bent. Maybe the metal parts were bended under stress, so check trucks are symetrical... But most likely reason is that bushings (polyurethane cylinders on the kingpin) are old or chewed (eg. if you lend your skate to somebody heavier than you, the bushings get chewed). They usualy tend to get looser on the heel side as most of your weight is on your heels. Sometimes this cannot be easily seen by naked eye. If you can't buy new bushings you can try riding your skate backwards (switching front and rear truck so your heels are on the less damaged side) or loosen the kingpin and rotate the bushings around it by 180 degrees. However you should probably just buy new bushings (and experiment with bushing hardness). Also i prefer flat bushing washers to cupped ones as cupped might cause more damage to the bushings while riding..

Harvie Thanks a lot for the advice. I will check the bushings. However, my skateboard was turning to right at the time I bought it new from store. I thought it was a minor fix. But after I adjusted the truck rotation by loosening the 4 bolts and retightening, it helped a little but didn't completely solve the problem. So I am guessing that it was a factory misalignment fault. It is a cheap chinese mass manufacture type longboard. But still I wonder if slightly rotated trucks can be fixed. I don't think the holes can be adjusted as that will make them bigger and the bolts will be loose.

@@harviecz I rechecked the bushings and solved the problem as you advised. The bushings looked fine in place. But after taking them apart one side seemed more squeezed than the other. So, I rotated them 180 degrees, and it solved my problem. So glad that it worked out. Thank you very very much :)

Not only riding without cups will destroy your trucks. It also feels very bad under feet. It feels like riding on cobblestone even when you ride on smooth concrete.

you should glue in the pivot cup to baseplate

i don't think that's a good idea. feel free to try :-)

This is terrible, you should be replacing them, not ruining your pivot cups and baseplate with a hot glue gun.

Surely. It's just quick temporary fix. However it works very well unless you shred too hard. And i don't see how i can ruin already ruined/loose pivot cups. Also baseplates and pivots are still protected as hot glue turned out to be hard enough to stay in place and protect them from smashing together. Trust me it's more than OK for everyday cruising. But you should use proper replacement pivot cups if that's an option for you. There's no doubt that polyurethane caps shoud be more durable than hot glue.
