Hey! Just joined in with the 08\09 1198s. It's been years since I've been dreaming about owning this machine and the funny thing is we started up almost the same - got mine for about the same price and oh boy am I surprised as I'm taking it apart to fix the issues I 'saw'. Although I just started watching your videos our bikes have many things in common. Sadly for me I gotta order EVERYTHING 'she' needs as I live in the Caribbean. Even getting the right plugs or oil on this island is challenging. I already wanna cry for the expenses to order and customs yet the joy of having it 🙏🏾 is such a great feeling. Anywho, Thanks for all your videos!

Until today, I never got a definitive answer on whether that shaft is possibly spinning and therefore the cause of my leak. Thanks for addressing this issue head on, and in great detail. I am crestfallen on another matter, however :-) I just put the side case back on after sealing the wire harness thru-grommet coming through the case (stator). I was hoping the oil rides on the outside insulation. You’re not the first person who points points out that it actually wicks up the copper strands. Oh well! Keep up the great videos.

I think it's a common misconception that standard ball bearings can't handle axial force. Most of the time ball bearings are rated for half axial Force as their radial so they can handle quite a bit

Would this work for the wet clutch models? My 848 SF clutch is killing my hand lol

Yes it will. However, the 848 uses a different clutch push rod. The one you'll need is Ducati part number 11721192A which you can get here: www.ducatiomaha.com/products/11721192a

Anti-rotation push rod is still no guarantee for no more leaks, it helps...a constantly maintained (clean sprocket area) and clean chain will also help.

So the solution is to ditch the Ducati and buy Japanese?
@ducsauce
Жыл бұрын
@DersNoNem by that theory everyone would be driving Toyota Prius. Yes there are plenty of special older Japanese bikes as well but I find current models lacking.

@@ducsauce plenty of people still buying Japanese. Buy once and never thought about again. I've seen lot of new GSXR in KZitem videos recently.

@DersNoNem you literally just described why I personally does like modern Japanese bikes, too many people have them, they are great, but just not for me.

Forgot to say where did you get your rear seat lowering adjustment bar as I need to lower my seat height, thanks again.

The rear ride height adjustment turnbuckle is standard on the 1198s. You could find one used or there are a few aftermarket options out there for lowering.

Hi great video thanks, but where did you get your extra long rear mudguard from or was it on the bike when you bought it, it stops all the dirty mud spraying up under the rear of the bike and rear seat as it rains a lot over here, I am based in the good old UK and just bought a 848 EVO 2012 (great bike) and just doing the slave cylinder which has the modified pushrod/slave cylinder but still didn't stop the pushrod seals from leaking, thanks again.

The rear wheel hugger is made by Tekarbon and it's nice quality: tekarbon.com/collections/1198-1098-848-07-12/products/ducati-1198-1098-848-carbon-fiber-rear-hugger-v29 Sorry to hear about the oil leak. Did you install new o-rings on the push rod? It's probably a good idea to change them periodically.

Does the bike jump forward and then die? If so, I'd say something in the clutch needs to be inspected. If not, then it is probably a safety switch fault like the side stand switch.

I wonder if the same applies to Superquadro. Mine is literally puking oil from that location. The aft section of my left silencer is black! I haven't removed the sprocket cover yet, and my first suspicion was output shaft seal. Thanks for posting this.

I'm afraid it won't. Panigales come standard with the anti-rotation setup. The leak appears to come from a failed pushrod seal that's inside the engine and it is inaccessible without splitting the cases (because Ducati). However, it looks like some owners have found a solution by having a groove machined into the clutch pushrod so that a single o-ring can be fitted (similar to a dry clutch pushrod) that apparently stops the leak. Check out this discussion thread for more details: www.reddit.com/r/Ducati/comments/xqdr8a/my_panigale_leaks_oil_from_the_marked_spot_anyone/

@@PracticalEnthusiast Thanks a bunch for the additional info. I'm gearing up to park the Panigale in my kitchen, get it up on both stands and tear it apart for a resto. I will definitely need to attack this leak. It's the only one, surprisingly. I'm pretty sure mine came with the "factory leak option". Hey, it wouldn't be a Ducati if it didn't leak!
