Just when I think I know what you’re going to say cause I’ve watched almost all of your videos, listened to the podcast, read your book, and have read lots of your articles… you blow my mind again with many more details and cues-so helpful! Thanks for all you share, Greg!

Use a BTN push press + push jerk + jerk complex as Greg mentions in Performance Menu. I did 4x3 yesterday and it was killer. Now if I catch myself leaning forward I will repeat the rep. 1,000 good reps or bust, baby!

There really is a catalyst video for anything. I can pause dip just fine but whenever I try to pause dip into an actual jerk I inadvertantly dip down slightly and then shift forward anyway. Maybe I just need to work on it more frequently

Incorporate a BTN push press into your training to practice a direct vertical transfer of power to the bar.

Greetings sir What is the greatest mental advice for a beginner lifter like me? Thank you ☺️
What do you think might be the reason for me only dipping forward in the push press but not the jerk?

Are weak arms (triceps) ever a limiting factor in the jerk?
@CatalystAthletics
2 жыл бұрын
Doubtful. You're not really pressing the bar up - you're really just needing to hold the weight in a locked position. Do some jerk supports and you'll see you can hold much more than your best jerk overhead if it's locked out.

10% of your height? For someone who is 5’10”, that would be 7 inches. That seems far too much.
@CatalystAthletics

Both Soviet and Chinese researchers/coaches cite the same approximate distance if you trust them more than me. And as said in the video, "Use 10% of your height as a starting point..." More elastic jerkers will tend to have shallower jerks, and more strength-dependent jerkers may dip slightly deeper.

American competitive weightlifters are almost all natty, because the culture is not pro-drug, and the testing in the US is aggressive.
