If my back is overdeveloped, can it go the other way?
@tannerunderwood264
22 күн бұрын
@@1aboPLZI’m guessing you’re asking about leaning back? If so, your spine has a natural curve and you (likely, depends on your personal anatomy) will always have a slight arch. If you’re actually experiencing pain however it likely stems from your hips, pelvis, and lower back. Issues in that area could also be from poor ankle and knee mobility. Essentially, mobility and flexibility are bottom-up, meaning a lack in ankle mobility could be the root cause for low-back pain

ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT ADVICE!!!!!! I have had spinal problems for over 35 years since I narrowly avoided being killed in a bomb blast. I've tried EVERY "solution" to reduce my pain, but THIS type of exercise, combined with many others, IS AN EXCELLENT TOOL to spread the chest, get your shoulders backwards and straighten your posture. I've extended my whole spine, the 4-6 INCHES difference is amazing!!! The long term effect can be louder changing. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS. 👍

As a completely fresh leg Physiotherapeut (barely any experience at all), based on my experience most people I’ve seen with tight tense muscles with painful trigger points are due to being in contracted positions for a long time so basically the exact opposite to this. Example: protracted shoulderblades/forwards rounded shoulders=pain in pectoralis minor (small chest muscle) or for example painful traps from having raised shoulders (traps contracted, not stretched). What’s your take on this?
@IAMHEATHER.C

Love it! Every night I lay on the for with a folded throw blanket under my back for about 15 minutes with meditation music. When my lower back is trying to come off the floor from arching I use a few pillows under my feet, on those days I lay there longer because it’s peaceful. I make sure it’s not wider than the length of my arm pits, basically you can’t see it while I’m laying on it. I relax with my arms straight out with palms up. The first time I did this my hands couldn’t touch the floor because my chest and the muscles right above my armpits were so tight. Don’t force it and try not to arch the back. Btw the blanket start at the nape of my neck, doesn’t matter how long it is but width is important to make sure you get full stretch in the chest. My PT wanted me to do this on a form roller, tried it and damn near died and let’s not talk about getting off of it.😫

From my memory in school, studies comparing posture and pain were quite poor and largely disproven. Most studies found that weekly adherence to strength training was more productive when reducing chronic pain. Do you have any evidence supporting a sitting position to "reset posture"?

Sort of, except tight areas are a direct consequence of weakness in those untrained muscles, just sitting around doing a tiny bit of stretching your pecs and not actually fixing the issue of weak traps, weak chest and weak external rotators: teres minor/subscapularis/infraspinatus/supraspinas, won't do anything for long term improvements. In order for your body to get more flexible and prevent postural issues/pain, is by strength training with a bias in the stretched position in all muscle groups including chest/ shoulders / traps / external rotators listed earlier. -Fitness expert/Kinesiologist
