Really like watching an artist at work....not to give you too big a head, Chris, but what's true is true! It's obvious even to someone like me, who has never operated any kind of machinery, that you have a very gentle, deft touch with that large piece of construction equipment. Thanks for the video. It's snowing right now here in western Massachusetts.

Great work! It is always great to learn something from every video you post. I have a question on digging a pond. I have a client that wants a pond for fish, recreational use, to solve a water problem but the thing about the project is that it is by wetlands, I am looking for advice on how to successfully do this project. any advice Chris? I have watched your videos where you are digging ponds but with this project being by wetlands, I am trying to figure out how to drain off overflow to keep it at the proper level or anyone who has done pond work before.

we have benefit of geology here so there is a limestone quarry within 20 miles. Pure white stone. There is another limestone quarry over by the gypsum mines where the stone is more gray. Was that limestone rip rap? Stone is stone in that application unless it is sandstone.

Could you not just put rock on the wide spot, and dig the left side of the creek bank, by a couple feet? Seems like that would be easier in my mind. Genuinely curious, because we don't have access toheavy machinery, and the culvert on my buddies property is getting badly eroded.

I was wondering ... piling rocks onto a slope like that did send some of them rolling down the hill and my question is if it wouldn't make sense to dig some steps into the hillside so that the rocks have a 'shelf' to lay on, instead of having to support themselves all the way up from the water level.

@silentepsilon888

my guess would be that digging large rocks like that is very harsh on the bucket and the pins and the entire mechanism as the bucket 'jerks' into the rock pile. I would think that he removed the tilting mechanism to avoid the mechanical stress on the many joints, pins and rotation points it has.
