Oh yeah, I learned Do you want to know a secret on the bass from a youtube tutorial, it took me a long time to sing to it and play Pauls notes with proper sustain. There are a lot of nuances and clever sharps and flats in his progressions. Not just the usual 8 bar repeating bass lines. Paul McCartney definitely demonstrates next level musicianship. @@Thundergod- Paul McCartney himself credited Brian Wilson: "I played [Pet Sounds] to John [Lennon] so much that it would be difficult for him to escape the influence … it was the record of the time. The thing that really made me sit up and take notice was the bass lines … and also, putting melodies in the bass line. That I think was probably the big influence that set me thinking when we recorded Pepper, it set me off on a period I had then for a couple of years of nearly always writing quite melodic bass lines." and ". When I first heard [Pet Sounds], I thought, Wow, this is the greatest record of all time! Brian took the bass into very unusual places. The band would play in C, and Brian would stay in G. That kind of thing. It gave me great ideas. That musical invention of Brian Wilson was eye-opening, I mean, ear-opening."

Though every Beatles song is unique, this one is absolutely 100% unique as a whole. It has an indescribable vibe to it that I can't explain and the first words that come to my mind when I think of it are acid rock. I don't know if acid rock is actually a thing, and if so, idk if it sounds anything like this but to my ears, this is rock n roll filled with acid. Not sure I buy the engineer's supposed accounting of the recording facts. Agree with other commentator...this is most definitely a McCartney bass line ....the cartoon/videos of the track show Lennon playing keyboard. Need to go back to George Martin for validation and that is going to be kind of tough....someone ought to ask McCartney a few meaningful questions on the music creativity facts before it's too late.

Geoff Emerick said Paul came into the studio in the evenings, by himself, with only Emerick present, during the Pepper sessions, and recorded the bass lines well into the night for each of his songs, over and over until he got them perfect. So I am sure Paul played the bass on Fixing. Not sure he did this on the other Beatles' songs, but you can check it out in the book Here, There and Everywhere by Geoff Emerick.

They said at times that Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was not about a very tripping acid!! Excuse us!!!!! And all four Beatles insist that they got the idea from a picture John's eldest son brought home a drawing he had made at school and said " look it's Lucy in the sky with Diamonds!!
