I'll tell you the truth the poly wear guards are life savers on our unverferth strip till, they're expensive but well worth it

We’ve run a lot of poly through the years on shanks and in the chutes on peanut pickers. The poly got more and more expensive until it was cheaper to replace the entire metal chute on the peanut picker than it was to put poly liner in it. They no longer offer a poly sleeve for these particular shanks. I would have preferred to install them over removing/welding 5+ hours/ re-installing all these shanks.

Would have liked to have seen a chock under the subsoiler to protect you under it.

I don’t know what the torque is on a 8530. The hp is just over 300. It’ll pull those 11 shanks 20” deep through the brick red clay.

Thanks for the recommendation. I was wanting some Study rods but none were available locally. I’m going to order some before next hard facing project

My Jr. High Ag Teacher taught us how to hardface metal, just like doing a "welding pad", except you used different rods and amp settings. Good video!

I know that adding that hard servicing to materials like that helps to extend the life of the parts. I've never actually seen it up close, but I've known of farmers who did it over the years. I think most people don't understand or imagine how much of an abrasive action there is on those surfaces. Of course, a lot of that depends on the type of soil. Good video...

These were Lincoln Wearshield 44. There are some hard facing rods that will weld on vertical surfaces but my local store only had these.

If there was enough artifacts in the ground to wear out a subsoiler I wouldn’t be able to do any farming. My middle child had already recommended I quit farming and become full time archaeologist.
