I’ve always thought a wide platform stance is a bad idea. Look at Bautista Agut’s serve. Smart guy!

It’s really fascinating how you focus on your knee position because I’ve always seen it and I’ve always told myself I shouldn’t do this on my serve. Great video 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve just had a practice session and served really badly. It knocks my confidence, I tense up and get frustrated. I’m recovering from injury so unable to practice for more than an hour so hearing that 30 mins is optimal is just what I needed to hear. And to relax! Thank you your content, I appreciate it very much 😊

For me my serve is my weakest and most inconsistent part of my game. So this video really helps me, thanks Ash!

I’m developing my serve as a beginner and I have the exact same problem with my right foot. After filming myself I could see my knees were all over the place! But I’m working on it….😅

Hi Ashley, I did a serve workshop with Mark Kovacs last year, and he really emphasized the importance of back leg loading before you transfer your weight into the court gradually throughout your motion. I'd be curious to measure whether you were generating more force out of that back leg when you cleaned up your stance and knee position. You said your serve felt bigger so maybe that feeling was coming through?

Great improvement on your serve Ash! Out of interest, what would you attribute as most important element for serve speed?

Hello Tennis Mentor. Here is my thought. I think you have too much weight on your front leg, Left. To have a better weight transfer, going from back leg to front leg could be more beneficial. This in turn might help you with the back leg and knee not turning so much. Having your shoulders coil the way you do, transfering weight this way will make it a more explosive serve. My two cents worth. Thank you and all the best.

if you don't mind me asking, where did you get your glass frames? i have a similar shape frame, but haven't found the right design yet. i like the way yours look.

So you asked, what you have done wrong in the warm up. I have noticed you raise your racquet and ball toss at the same time which means you have to rush your trophy pose and racquet drop too much, as a result you do not get to load your right hip properly where your left side of your hip is higher than the right side which means you are not coiling correctly and losing a lot of power.

Thanks for the analysis. It’s always interesting hearing others ideas! I realised after filming that it wasn’t easy to see my main fault during the warm up due to the angle and that for most of my initial serves I wasn’t using my full leg drive! What did you think of my ‘after’ serve?

It was really good after you fixed those funky feet, I too record myself serving and have suffered from the UK wind you need one of those mini sandbags to put on the tripod foot! @@TheTennisMentor

On a platform serve would you say you push more of your front leg or your back leg? (50/50? 40/60? 80/20?) I struggle a lot about this.

You should load more on your back leg… I actually made a video on this here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/u4aKto6rb52Yi3Ysi=XwdOnI44eANa_HeQ
