Thank you thank you thank you thank you. This is the most ridiculous fix but I went for it out of pure desperation. I never leave comments on videos but you deserve it for posting this. I used a piece of laminated paper and found it easier to wrap it around the female end of the power cable. Legendary fix.

There is a God!!! I was going to be so pissed if everyone had success with this and I was left with a dud. I also wouldn't have gone to bed for 3 days knowing it was possible. 3 minutes later and BANG!. I cant begin to imagine how you arrived at this solution but then again I don't care. You're a legend in my book. thank you for posting.

The problem is NOT in the Monitor but in the socket itself. I took my problem into Apple and they used a DIFFERENT cable than the one I had and it worked fine. I tried my cable and it would not work until I put the splint into the socket of the cable like you did. SO the real solution is to get a new cable from powerblock to the video card.

OMG THANK YOU! I got a quote from Apple for $400 to fix this issue, which I thought was a just a bit extreme! It took me about a minute to fix it, wish I had searched for this video months ago!! I used a thin piece of electrical tape (after reading comments) and put it in place with a small screwdriver. Works GREAT! Thanks!

Woks like a charm, you can also use a small piece of ducktape, makes it easier to cover the 2 coper plates. Then use a small piece of a playing cart to put the ducktape in place.

@risetown Ha ha, yeah, I wonder the same! I had the blinking problem with my belowed monitor, probably did like you - searched for the fault on the internet. Found a thread about this on the Apple Support Forum, tried to read it over and over again, and just took me ages to visualise what the solution was. Once I figured it out, I thought I better record it for my felllow net cousins out there. Super happy to see how many people this works for. - Mat

I need help! I'm trying to do this with a piece of paper. I cut a tiny strip of paper then fold it into a "V" and then slide it in, but as soon as I plug it in to the adapter, the paper rips in half! what am I doing wrong?
@matisok
13 жыл бұрын
@Maverick3020 I believe it has to do with the middle pin, in the case of the fault, reads the incorrect voltage and the display inverter turns off to protect the unit.

Thanks for the tip. hope it will last me a long time. The method that worked for me was to cut a 1mm strip of hard clear plastic packaging. I then bent this into the shape of a "W" and carefully inserted it into the centre grooves of the power supply. Plugging the power cable from the monitor didn't seem to move the plastic. I then plugged my power supply into a surge protector and then into the wall socket and everything worked.

What is accomplished is that the cable going into the video card is messed up - the reason I know thi sis that I used a different cable from the power block to the video card and it worked fine. What you are doing is disabling a circuit that is broken in the cable itself - perhaps not communicating well with the video card. Try borrowing someone else's cable from a known working cinema display - see if that works and if so then you can just buy a new cable.

I watched this video on a whim and within 10 minutes my 24" 2006 Apple Cinema Display was working again. Here's my suggestion: Focus on covering the center pin and then just with a thin plastic v cut out just like in the video. Instead of putting it on the female end, put it on the male end within the power brick. Worked like freakin' magic!

This saved my live. However, to be honest I couldn’t get the plastic into shape properly. What I ended up doing was take a thin sliver of Sellotape and drape it over the connector pins inside the female end. Then I used a sewing pin to gently push the tape into the groove.
