@@OutboundIntent yep the IFS designs can be a bit finicky. worn bushing, ball joints, suspension, CV axle or tie rods can create drivability issues and then as you stated tires or wheels being out of balance. Check or replace these items and get a good alignment and these rigs even lifted should drive really nice. 👍🏻

Blind spots can be on any vehicle with incorrectly adjusted mirrors. If you are behind someone and can see their face from the rear view, they have the mirrors adjusted incorrectly. You should have to lean your head a bit to check the side mirrors. Never had any blindspot problems driving mine. I love it and think it is anything but ugly.

I have a 4Runner at home and love it. Rented an FJ Cruiser overlanding rig for a week in Costa Rica and didn't like it so much. It ran great and was a good offroader but the blind spots were awful, both in the rear, with those massive side view mirrors, and the high door panel. I'm a normal size guy at 5'10 but felt I sat lower in the rig and had trouble looking out the side down below. On several occasions I had to get out to spot an obstacle where in my 4Runner I would have had the visibility to just drive.

Stock rear-view camera on a 2010+ FJ is actually in the center of the spare as you have it (yours is outfitted with a custom camera cover, which looks cool), but no FJ cruiser came with a camera on the rear bumper. I just got one in November. It takes a while to get used to it on highways. I have had two Chevy 1500 pickups I drove for 20 years then I downsized to an Equinox. That Equinox was so smooth and handled like a racecar, lol! 😉 But after three years and the oil burning issues of the Nox I found my FJ. The FJ feels every nook and cranny in the road. I can feel the pitch in the highway changing lanes. I thought it had suspension issues but I had it aligned and checked out. All good. Now five months later I'm getting used to it's quirks at highway speeds. Mine is stock 2wd 2008. It came with only 81K miles. I've calculated my mpg several times and it's always between 18-22mpg. I drive mostly highway and it gets about the same mpg as my trucks. The only thing that really surprised me with it was at the first fill-up I saw it needed premium, lol! Glad I'm a Sam's Club member saving on gas these days pays for the membership plus some!
@sumokaa

You don’t need premium, that is a myth. It’s been heavily discussed on the FJ forums. With the price of gas you are just wasting money my friend. Regular gas will not hurt your FJ at all. Research it yourself on the forums ;)

If I were you I would only move up to 33's unless you also plan on re-gearing. I went to a set of 255/80R17 Falken Wildpeak AT3 recently and they make quite the difference off road especially in snow and ice without affecting MPG too much. Also unless you use that RTT a lot I would just get rid of it, I did the same thing when I first got my FJ and ended up only getting around 14mpg, this is not a fault of the FJ, but RTT's in general, same RTT on my Subaru Forester and it only got 16mpg vs the normal 25-26mpg... Good luck with the FJ, its fugly at first, but at least you already got rid of the horrendous bumper!

Hi! I live South-Africa in the western coast. Own an FJ for 3 years now 2012 with 210 000km and its stock standard with MT tyres standard size. Excellent in every way. The moment you fiddle with suspension, bumpers, bigger tyres etc. your driving conform, stability and fuel consumption get influenced. Go and drive a stock one and feel the difference. It looks cool if you pimp it, maybe gets you places a little bit easier but that's it. I have 2 small children and can go anywhere with all our luggage. You can also still buy a 2022 model here.
