I think that old chopper is doing a good job. You could always turn the cattle out there to clean up what it leaves behind

May want to get a flail chopper of your own. Daily chopping into a feeder wagon is an efficient way to make a late hay crop. One pass and done and no raking, baling, or wrapping.

One hell of a good idea . Use what you have available. Not traditional and not perfect but great low-cost feed.

I love eating over ripe sweet corn. Don't worry about the corn that got trampled, it will be good for the soil.

Hey Ben could you not just let the cows graze the corn off in the colder weather. Many do near my place. It would free you up for chores and winter prep. Just a thought. Take care. Scott

It’s tough to get the cobs, I do it as well. I actually open up my fields to chop with a flail mower. I don’t get it all but it works!!

Your disc mower would have been a good option. Then just baled. Used to do a few acres like that. Cows really seemed to like it.

Good idea. Name of the game is cheap feed. I’ve never ran a flail chopper but it looks a satisfying job

I've done it that way b4. But is what I done was use a scikle bar mower to knock it down than use 5 bar rake to put it into wind row with less waste

I’m sure you already thought of this but if you could find an old 1 row silage chopper you wouldn’t leave hardly any. You could also chop the stalks where you picked in future years. I have a Meyer wagon like that.

Let me guess You probably needed to split up the plantings more. To much sweet corn ready all at one time. I used to raise 150 acres sweet corn back in the day.

Another benefit, leave the gates closed until the week before Bambi camp opens. Your going to need more freezer space.

Nothing wrong with saving good feed that would otherwise be worked under Ben
