I teach at a Tri State university and a student got extremely agitated and hostile toward me b/c I called them "he"... I had no idea of their gender pronouns, identity, or anything about them other than they presented as a man, their name was a common name given to males in the US according to my attendance roster and I was never informed by the student of the pronouns that they preferred. In our institution students are asked to inform professors of their preferred pronouns so that they should honor this preference. It's like the student expected me to assume their gender identity beyond what I could make sense of through sight and all of the other information I had about them. The student said they should not have to share their pronouns with me. It was such a complicated and sensitive situation I felt that no matter how I responded they would take issue with it...they did. I do believe that so many Trans youth seem to be expecting that other's are inherently aware and knowledgeable of their world. Everyone does not share their experiences or insights. I respect everyone and I would expect that respect be given in kind, as well as grace when people make mistakes relative to gender identity labels. A simple correction and meaningful conversation does way more that tantrums and hostile behavior toward individuals that are obviously engaging with them with good intentions and respect.

Part of what I’m understanding in what Flame is saying is that you need to pick your battles. I also get that the transgender community might want to be accepted right away but I’m an older black woman in her sixties and I’m still not accepted. I wish sometimes someone from the LGBTQ+ community would explain to me the different terms because I’m confused and I know if they would explain it to me I might better understand it. As Flame said, if some of the LGBTQ+ community doesn’t always understand, think how confusing it is for me as a heterosexual black woman. And I can’t always remember what pronoun someone wants to be called. I’m old school and I would just probably call them by their name because that’s what I’m used to. No disrespect but I’m from a different era. But this is why I love to hear Flame talk because she tells it like it is.

As someone who is a centrist/moderate, I really appreciate someone like Flame who appears to be somewhat grounded in reality and has not engaged in some of the rhetoric that espoused ideas that are not supported by empirical science, which are harmful to children that have not developed abstract thinking skills to evaluate the long-term consequences of puberty blockers and surgeries. Flame should meet with the US Department of Health and Human Services assistant director, Rachel Levine, because Flame exhibits more common sense than Rachel Levine, who is supposed to be a physician. Flame understands that males have a significant advantage over females in sports in heart capacity, lung capacity, bone density, bone length, and muscle. Rachel Levine acts like they do not know that! Rachel Levine refuses to acknowledge the research into the paraphilic condition of autogynephilia or even the existence of it despite transgender persons who fully recognize themselves as autogynephilic. I can truly say I appreciate Flame’s integrity and not engaging in narratives based on fixed, false beliefs. THANK YOU SO MUCH, FLAME!

No biological male should be competing against biological females. It's unfair to biological females for obvious reasons.

I do agree with you but hormones do change trans woman. I think they are still doing studies/test on it but you do have physical changes. Especially if they transition young

@@VeeBee2127 they lose some muscle mass but not the 50% more upper body strength they have than women. It doesn't change their bones or their heart, or lung span, or hip angle or anything else. It's not even close. Puberty is vital for human development so I'm not interested in encouraging that medical scandal

@@VeeBee2127 the Cass review was incredibly damning. Every progressive country has moved away from chemically sterilizing disproportionately autistic and gay children due to horrible health results and the growing amount of detransitioners. And yet Canada and the USA double down. This won't be regarded as any better than the lobotomy scandal

Great Interview!!! ❤ Flame is old school transgender, and the problem has been she nowhere represents the average trans-person.
