Poor GAdv, Flash missing their planned opening year was basically the nail of the coffin for their 50th anniversary.

By far the worst thing that can happen to a new roller coaster after I watched the video I was still skeptical about why they delayed it

I think too many coaster enthusiasts are petty, entitled, and lack so much perspective these days. When a ride has to close for an extended period or construction takes longer than expected, you really get to see the worst in the community. I'm glad you're taking the step to call out how this isn't always a bad thing and why people in the community need to chill out a little bit and stop being so cynical and pessimistic when these kinds of situations happen.

Agreed. The SFOG park pres revealed that the delay of Georgia Surfer and the merger allows them to access legacy Cedar Fair’s design team for additional theming possibilities. I expect the same for Great Adventure.

Very good points! They were going to try to open Flash earlier funny enough without the Flash emblems at the top but even I knew that was not a good idea haha

@@AdrenalineRushCoasterMedia I also think most of Great Adventure’s 50th blunders were due to them not having the funds released by corporate until this year. They were put into rush mode for everything…including off-season maintenance. Great Adventure has done some questionable things but ride operations are usually top notch. This season has been atrocious.

@@TheNitroNomad also the season “started” earlier than intended. Their expectation was for the start of the season to be Spring break/mid to late April. That was an experiment that will likely not carry over to next season.

Another reason why GA Surfer got pushed back to next year was likely because of manufacturing challenges since that coaster was not originally built for them and was at Vietnam before SF picked it up. Besides, according to SFOG’s park president, permitting took longer than they anticipated to start construction, in which likely played in a huge on why the decision was made.

This is a load of excuses for Six Flags not caring about the anniversary. As an employee I can say we are upset and insulted. The promise to us and the public was a coaster for the anniversary celebration. It was supposed to be an Intamin multilaunch. Obviously, when the Vekoma became available for a lower price, it was decided to go cheap. It didn't help that SF was so focused on the merger that they didn't start early enough to prep land where the Intamin could fit. They were hoping for a rush job to have Flash ready, but Six Flags isn't capable of rushing anything.

I feel terrible for you guys hearing that flash wouldn’t open this year. As for the Intamin multi launch thing, I know there was a proposed layout/render of some kind much before the super boomerang rumor surfaced. I personally wasn’t a fan of the idea they had for the Intamin multi launch, especially since a family launch coaster is in my opinion the most needed coaster right now.

Oh, yes, this delay is a GOOD thing...for park revenue. Anyone who bought tickets or passes for 2024 expecting to experience the new attraction--which was promoted and advertised extensively by the park as opening in 2024--will have to buy again for 2025. Watching this video makes one wonder exactly how much Six Flags paid you to kiss its ass. Oh, and BTW, any and all mention of this ride has been completely removed from the park website, probably due to fear of legal action or perhaps litigation that is already in progress.

respectfully this is the worst take ive ever heard in my life 😭I knew the ride wasn't going to be ready this year when there was no track updates till may or june, so im not super dissapointed or shocked. But why would you defend them? They did a terriable 50th anniversary, all small things that built up to be super dissapointing, and a waste of a season pass for those who actually expected six flags to do something good for once. Supporting the disaster just makes it more likely to happen again

This is bullshit. They never do anything correctly at great adventure. We were told we’d get something new and are now stuck with this piece of garbage right in the front of the park.
