It's Friday- the day we take a break from all the new happenings here on the farm and take a peek back at some of the animals that got us here. Today we introduce you to Ringo.
Now before you meet Ringo there are a couple of things you should know about him. First of all, he is a fellow Hurricane Harvey flood survivor and he was the first animal to join us here on the farm as an adoption. As a matter of fact, my friend Delores dropped him off just a week after the flood waters receeded. He has his own story of survival to tell but he'd never tell it- he wants us all to believe that Hurricane Harvey survived him, and not the other way around.
He helped Meg (his life-partner) heal from the loss of her fur family and he was here with me every step of the way in all the repairs to my home and fences around the property. He supervised the reconstruction of the goat shelter and made sure to pop his head in the house every once in a while to see how my home repairs were coming along. LIterally! He is the reason there is a spring on my front door, as well as springs on all the gates.
He was here to protect the short-legged animals in the front pasture (we call them The Littles) well before Annie Apaca and Donkey Dan showed up to take over that role. Whenever anyone comes to visit, Ringo makes sure to be the first to greet and he demands they say good-bye before leaving. He doesn't let anything or anyone go unnoticed. He always inspects EVERY snack and kernal of corn before he lets anyone else risk possible infection, virus, or injury. As a matter of fact, The Dodo did a story on him but in our opinion, mislabeled their video calling it "The Odd Sibling" Hmmmm- go figure.
Ringo is only one-of-four of our animals to have an actual hashtag that has trended in the animal world (you don't belive me, google it - #RingoRules )
and he is the only one to have a Tinder App account (my older son's idea- and with Meg's permission, of course) just to see how many chics would swipe right. Yes, it was a huge hit until the folks at Tinder deleted the account. Supposedly bunch of guys were complaining. Imagine that!
The way we see it, every good story has a problem that has to be solved, and there is always a protagonist (good guy) and antagonist (bad guy). The story of Ima Survivor Sanctuary is no different- we will just leave it up to you to decide who is who. One thing is for sure- if you've ever heard that expression, "some people are hard to love and easy to hate", that definitely applies to Ringo. But I will say this, and I've said it a hundred times before..... With all the amazing babies whose lives I've had the privelege of being a part of, if I could only have one, ONLY one, I would take Ringo. He has personality, charm, he takes no shit from anyone, he is fearless. He is loyal. He loves to have a good time. He is my spirit animal and I love him.
