@@javersowens2035 More specifically, it's not just a product that no one has to have! Yet, even if one does need personal transportation, after seeing the ugliness of the naked greed, and entitlement spewed on the media airwaves by management, manifest through their lies about their lack of profitability and their false accusations against the workers and the UAW, will leave many potential buyers from varying backgrounds with a bad feeling towards management. I, like many others will refuse the products from automakers who demonstrate that they won't give the auto workers a fair deal. Since GM used bankruptcy and hundreds of billions in federal bailout money during the Great Recession to throw out the union deals, close plants, outsource, and hire long-term temporary workers, creating a new and highly unfair, insecure, multitiered labor deal so that the taxpayers and auto workers paid for GM's record earnings and all the new prosperity has been focused on is rewarding management and shareholders with huge stock buybacks and dividends. We haven't bought another GM car or truck since and I haven't bought a single share of GM stock since. In the case of Ford they didn't go bankrupt but now their behavior is no better than GM 's.

Basically i cant import my own car into the states until its 25 years old then have to pay like a stupid 30% tax on it. These companies have been skating by on this regulation for decades. It's why foreign companies like Nissan, vw, Toyota opened plants in the states to make cars here. To avoid the tax. If i want to import a car straight from japan or some other country I'm not allowed to. Even if the car is better engineered, more reliable, better designed, i am not allowed to import it. I'm only allowed to have U.S. cars. It's a protection racket at my expense. These companies have been protected for DECADES at my expense. Deciding which cars I'm allowed to buy. Lowering quality, over charging, building a lot of basically crap. And overpaying themselves. It's a racket. There is a world market automakers sell too. Then a entirely different U.S. market. 2 seperate markets. Lot of the cars the rest of the world has the chance to buy. I'm not allowed to. We are in such a "free country" I'm not allowed to import my own car so these corrupt fools can stay afloat., You know a lot of cars in say saudi arabia are like 1/3 less? Same basic cars? GM is about 80% of the way through a $5 Billion stock buyback program over about 2 years, which increases the stock price and further increases executive compensation. $5 Billion is about $103,000 per UAW-GM employee. If they quit buying back their own stock and reduce the top executives pay they would have plenty of money to pay the people who actually build the vehicles. The starting UAW GM wage is $17/hr. The top tier UAW employees make $33k per hour on average, all of whom have been there for over 16 years and she makes almost $30 million dollars a year, that's 882 times the starting wage. In 1985 the GM CEO made $465,000 per year which was about 18 times the average UAW wage at the time, which was $13.35/hr.

Forget both sides. Company is all profit and executive over compensation. Jacking prices. Cost cutting on the ACTUAL CAR.. Union is like "give us 3 months a year off and.. And.. Let is be inefficient! Yeah! " Who is advocating for the actual car? These people all seem to be in the wrong line of work. You should love cars to build and design cars. You should love engineering to engineer cars. I don't think they love or care about cars. Which is that actual product a consumer is buying, depending on makers to love and care about cars. But instead management's probably like "hey lets give ourselves a bonus and saved $50 per car by using worse screws! " Wow dude! Thanks! So happy you all love cars! Dearborn Michigan. Anyplace really in the business. Should make its goal, very purpose, to make the HIGHEST QUALITY, MOST RELIABLE, BEST DESIGNED cars in the world. Thats it! No over pay. No rediculious management. No screw ups. No excuses. Love cars. Right down to the quality of that little screw. Or get out of the business. Just get out. Find a new job. Close the company. Whatever! Just go away! Union, management. I don't care what side. If your goal isn't loving and turning out the best possible. Simply, go away. Quit, hope you get fired. Go bankrupt. I don't care. Just go.

@keksterbojester818 Reeeeeeally...? Since Ford has had the most RECALLS of ANY of the big 3, and most of them were PRODUCTION problems (i.e. due to crap work by those screw turners you lionized), someone had to deal with the bad publicity and legal issues. Someone had to work with dealers to co.e up with a 'dealer adjustment' added to the price to mitigate the costs associated with same. THOSE actions made Ford profitable IN SPITE OF WORKER INCOMPETENCE. But you don't think corporate execs do anything. THIS is why they get the big bucks, and you grumble because someone makes more money than you do.

Do people realize the purpose of business is to make a profit? The dividend of prosperity ( profit ) is jobs and benefits included in those jobs. What you earn is a cost associated with running that business. If you think for a moment your company cares about you as a person and will provide to you out of care it’s fairy tale land. I agree with the unions position however you negotiate with keeping business afloat and prosperous in line first. If that company doesn’t turn a profit that makes sense than you have nothing. I said this before - go after your raise and bigger share of profit sharing while keeping what you already have earned. Pensions, 4 day work week, etc won’t happen.
@LightMike4u
Жыл бұрын
You also have to ask for more & settle for less. So maybe we don't get pensions & a 32hr work week but we get better profit sharing & they eliminate forcing employees to work 90 days straight like Stelantis is doing! Now that HAS to change!

So let me try to understand this. UAW workers are on strike! Because under their last contract. They agreed to work for $17 an hour??? Or is it like one of the CEOs said.... they want to make $300,000 per year working 32 hours a week? So let's just say the workers are making $17 per hour. Why are you blaming the corporations? If you the union worker, voted the last contract in? Or you agreed to work for $17 an hour? You and your union are the ones to blame! Seriously..... you had to pay union dues to get $17 an hour???? But honestly I think that's a lie! I think you are spinning the truth so people will feel sorry for you. But if not? And you are willing to pay union dues to get that pay? You're probably only worth $15 an hour!
