Great video Marcel. Too many high points to mention. Saw Billy play Doc's Gallagher on some shorts already and seen him geek out over it, never realising it was at bluegrass camp. And all those guys, and gals, pickin and a strummin was just fantastic to see. No egos, no divas, no look-at-me, just classic bluegrass flatpickin heaven. I've not picked up the guitar in a few days (very unusual for me) but this has re-energised and re-invigorated me so I'll be watching a few of your videos soon to play along with. Probably badly. But that's not the point is it, how good we are? It's just pure flatpickin' goodness no matter what! 🤠🤟🏴🎸

The small speck of Billy and Bryan was a bit too short, I feel that is a legendary session. great video, and I'm very happy to see all of Marcel's wonderful fan base see hime play with some of the best pickers around, and realize how good he is. @@LessonsWithMarcel Thank you for posting. I've always thought TR would have appreciated some good video of his impromptu picking sessions, and being recorded by someone such as yourself would go a long way with these great musicians. ( Playing with Bill Monroe , e.g. ) Bryan Sutton will not have that kind of moment too often, either, I would think. You are not the average fan stealing video moments. All the Best, very nice to see the recognition you have long deserved.

I guess I disagree with the Jake and Marcel discussion about naming things - which I think is the larger question of whether to learn music theory. Until I got a big dose of that knowledge I was like the blind squirrel hunting for a nut, all trial and error unless I learned from Tab and then I became slave to it. Unless you have a phenomenal ear and an innate genius for music learn you some theory! The goal is fretboard freedom where you can just play what you hear in your head. Lifelong undertaking!
@LessonsWithMarcel
Жыл бұрын
If you don't need the theory, more power to you. If you've been trying and it ain't working, maybe learn some theory. Personally, I fell into that second category. You might as well.

I need to get it together so I can sit in with them beyond rhythm and play some licks. Your page has been a great resource. I am realizing I don't need to "deprogram" as a jazz/blues guy but to alter just a bit modally. The new to me picking approaches and techniques are exciting AF. Thank you Marcel!
