I never had to stand next to someone I loved and sing about cheating on her or breaking up. They were performing, reacting, processing, reminiscing perhaps about when things were right, wanting to walk away, wanting to please an audience, and who knows what more. Great talent, great performance, but a very personal insight into lives of people I never knew. Nothing in today's music or performances come close to these era of music and performance.

Perhaps but how much of their time was spent high on any and every form of escape known at the time. Being like that most of time may well destroy any sense of perspective and all that matters is what's in front of you in the moment. Stevie Nicks later admitted she routinely woke up next to someone in bed that she did not remember meeting. One wonders how everyone kept so thin!! I remember well people who had that look.
@Chris-z5c4q

Absolutely, but do keep in mind that Lindsey surely hurt Stevie much more than she ever did. He was abusive; both emotionally and physically. Not to mention Stevie had to baby and provide for him before the Mac years. She worked as a waitress and cleaning lady while he stayed at home, jobless. While both were toxic for each other, villainizing Stevie is definitely not the way to go.

But I cannot "Imagine" being in the same band with that person and writing songs about the situation. Maybe that is what makes FM such a great band they inserted their humanity into the songs putting a signature on the heart of the listener / writer / band mate vs just signing a song.
