lp.constantcontactpages.com/s... Fleetwood Mac Address Lindsey Buckingham's Exit
When it was announced that Buckingham was fired a few weeks ago my first thought was, “at least he's not dead,” since we've lost so many rockers especially in the last three years. Their singer guitarist has not made a statement yet but the band certainly has. They each talked to Rolling Stone magazine. First Stevie Nicks said, “We were supposed to go into rehearsal in June and he wanted to put it off until November [2019], That’s a long time. I just did 70 shows [on a solo tour]. As soon as I finish one thing, I dive back into another. Why would we stop? We don’t want to stop playing music. We don’t have anything else to do. This is what we do.”
You know your shoes are pretty big when it takes two musicians to replace you. The same thing happened in the 80's when Buckingham left and was replaced by Billy Burnette and Rick Vito plus later Dave Mason replaced Vito. Now the replacements, as earlier reported are former Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and former Crowded House and Split Enz singer guitarist Neil Finn. Christine McVie says that there was chemistry with their new members immediately.
The band just announced a huge 52-date tour that kicks off in Early October. Go to FleetwoodMac.com for tour dates. We will also have them at RockHistorymusic.com for tour dates. Tickets go on sale on Friday May 4th.
Turns out Fleetwood Mac does not like the word 'fired.” Mick Fleetwood Mac says, “Words like ‘fired’ are ugly references as far as I’m concerned, Not to hedge around, but we arrived at the impasse of hitting a brick wall. This was not a happy situation for us in terms of the logistics of a functioning band. To that purpose, we made a decision that we could not go on with him. Majority rules in term of what we need to do as a band and go forward.”
When it comes to drama in Fleetwood Mac there's lots to unpack there. Since 1967 they have seen Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, Danny Kirwan, Bob Welch just to name a few. So they have shaken that etch-a-sketch really hard a few times.
Mike Campbell was at his home in Kauai when he got the call, He was just wondering what he was going to do with the rest of his life since his old rock partner, Tom Petty, passed away last October. It was also on his 68th birthday. His birthday is on Feb 1 so this has been brewing for a few months. Neil Finn says he thought his arena rock gigs were behind him.
Fleetwood Mac plan to rehearse for two months with the new line-up and will include tunes from the pre-Buckingham Nicks era something that Lindsey didn't want to do according to Stevie, “We were never able to do that since 1975 because certain people in the band.
