I can relate on using a 1"backing plate on a rotary its truly unpleasant lol! good thing they made this one as u can refine/correct paint a lot faster. Thanks for making this video!

i had the rupes nano ibrid for about 2 weeks i sold it stright away ...to me it just dident have eough power and changing from da to rotory its pain in arse then i brought flex pxe 80 its on levels worth its weight in gold 💪

The Rupes has its place and it was first to fill the spot for smaller non-pneumatic polishers. But FLEX definitely had some advantages by improving upon what was already available. The Rupes having a much smaller form factor may benefit some detailers above the PXE80.

How long does the batter pack last when using it with the 3" backing plate in rotary mode ? I think 4Ah is mandatory. Any negative side-effects recognised so far ? ... dying batteries, overheating, ... or else ?

I love the XCE cordless. Had it since it launched and it’s my favorite tool I’ve ever bought. I have this PXE 80 too and with both it gives you pretty much anything you need

Just want to ask if your pxe 80 is still going strong if you have used it as a 3 inch rotary frequently. Manual says use rotary only for 1 inch pads. I guess to protect the motor from overload. I just got mine recently and I'm contemplating to do the same thing as you did.

I do use it that way regularly without issues. It will drain the battery quicker so be sure to have the second battery charging if you plan to use it with a 3" plate as a rotary a lot. If you begin to overload the tool, it will automatically shut down for a short period of time to ensure damage isn't done. This is per a conversation I had with Chris Metcalf of Flex Tools North America. It's monitored via a heat sensor. When it gets hot enough, it is shortly disabled as a safety net. This tool is pure genius inside and out.

@@Detaileddesignsautospa Thanks for the feedback. I think if you can open and show the motor of the tool and reveal its shape after those heavy use it would be a good content for you. Nobody has shown it yet. By the way, I have a rotary small enough like the pxe 80 that you can use for extended period but it's corded - Makita DA3010F. Thought you might like

What about with the 2in backing plate is it ok for the rotary setting?

How did you remove the pin from the 3” backing plate?

I just drilled a small hole in the threaded stud on the backing plate to allow the pin to fit into. I tried (gently) to remove the pin from the shaft but it seemed to be in there pretty good.

I'm having a hard time choosing between the flex pxe 80 and the rupes ibrid nano. If you were to cloose to buy one which one would you choose?

Why I chose PXE 80 over ibrid. Versatility of the machine is ridiculously convenient.

I’ve figured out a rotary work around as well. So my pin is still in the attachment but how did you get yours out ?
@Detaileddesignsautospa

Multiple attempts to remove it with some needle nose plyers. It is legitimately secured in the quick connect hardware!

@@Detaileddesignsautospa yeah you can get it out but it’s a hassle , so I just figured out with some help a decent work around.

I found it easier to drill a small hole into the backing plate rather than remove the pin

Old post but it's just a roll pin. Some ignition pliers will really grip it and twist it out in about 30 secs
