This is the bed build I’ve been looking for. Most practical and minimalist concept I have seen. You did and amazing job.

I have a Toyota RAV4 2009. I also wanted to keep my back seats in, so I made a concertina bed. I has 3 fold points and folds back into the boot area when I need the seats. It rests on the folded seat at the top and I followed that height to the back so I can sit up in bed. It has a small amount of storage space underneath at the back, 12cm, I used small round wooden cabinet legs to raise it, which stopped it buckling as yours did. I covered it with cheep hardwearing carpet and use my blow up mattress, I might try your idea of padding but it has to be removable so the concertina works. Thanks for the ideas. 👍🏻

That sounds like a brilliant design! Once the yoga mat wears out (probably won't be long), I'll replace it with dense carpet padding.

Thanks and welcome! It's been 4 years and I *still* haven't decided whether or not I'm taking my seats out. So far, I've managed to avoid it, but that could always change. 😂

Love the bed idea, especially how compact it folds up to carry and store. Off to the big city tomorrow to look at vans, can’t wait to get out there. PS that ending needed a warning! My heart stopped when the bike skidded. 😱

The brackets need to be on the inside of the leg and bed. But my opinion you could just use locking rollers on bottom to make it easier to remove from vehicle. Your handle can be replaced with a suitcase handle like so you can push it in when sleeping and pull it out when you need to carry it or roll it on wheels. Just a tip. Thanks for your video

something to remember when dealing with pine. allways predrill ie. pilot hole before putting in a screw. this will prevent the splitting.
