Pop Shuv It Skill Cap >> Tre Flip Skill Cap and that's just fax. Anyone can huck a tre flip with the might of zeus and land it but to control a pop shuv it down a gap or set of stairs is just on a different level of impressive. Tre flips having "all flash and no substance" is a great way to put it. That being said, I love putting down a good tre bomb LOL

@@devout9396 I think its harder to pop shuv a stair set than to Tre a stair set. skill ceiling of a tre flip on flat is huge though. It takes a ton of skill to make a tre look nice on flat, and pros make it look incredible. It got played out for a reason. As a flat trick, it's S-tier imo. But less cool in other scenarios like you mention, so I can see arguing it a bit lower.

Varials may be eaiser to learn than tres at first but after you master the scoop of a tre I think they become much eaiser to do than varials as they're almost all back foot related. The hard part about learning tres is getting the power and scoop muscle memory down but once you learn them you can never really unlearn them, but with varials you gotta keep doing them or they're easy to lose. I also think tres are eaiser to do down stuff than a varial.

I agree pop shuvs are super under-rated. A highly popped, correctly caught with the front foot pop shuv looks really good. Problem is a lot of people learn to do them terribly then move on to other tricks and never clean them up. Or they'll do the quick little no pop shuv, which can be cool on it's own with enough speed, and call it a popped one. They're also great transition tricks when doing grind combos, or when you need something a little extra in or out of a grind and a flip would look awkward. Plus they're fun as fuck when caught really high. Oh and they serve a great purpose that most basic flip tricks can't do, they're a cool way to get your board facing the right way again after a varial trick, or the opposite when you're going to nollie something.

Jason Lee, the OG pioneer of 360 flips, did them sparingly. If you watch his two big video parts from “Video Days” and “A Visual Sound” he does very few 360 flips (four at the most). And it was still in its relative infancy as a trick. Less is more with that one.

Varial kickflips look better on any drop or gap because it’s harder to only rotate 180 than it is to rotate the board 360 on any drop. Easier on flat to land varials but harder to land down a set. Vice versa with the 360 flip. Also, saying treflip is Heavenly Father ungodly lame. That’s the most overplayed part of the whole thing. I’d rather hear someone call it a 360 kickflip than a *gags* treflip.
