I like this video very much. It is a very simple, easy to follow, basic tutorial. Sometimes, there's TMI with tutorials. After getting the basics from your tutorial, all I have to do is just get in there, press the buttons, and give it a shot. Looking forward to doing just that. Thank you! 👍🙂

I have a quick question. I am putting together a talent show and do not want the students to be to see each others until all are in. I think that that is the moderation button, but not sure if it needs to be green or grey to have the videos hidden form peers. Thank you.
@abbeythomas8501

Green would mean that moderation is on - meaning that no one sees the videos but the owner of the grid until that owner gives permission. Cool idea for talent show entries!

Very good info...I'm new to Flipgrid ...question is will I be making a different grid for every subject?
@abbeythomas8501
4 жыл бұрын
That is up to you and how you run your classroom. It really depends on what you teach. If I were a high school teacher and had several sections I might make a different grid for each section. For example: Mrs. Thomas 1st period, Mrs. 2nd period etc. If I were an elementary teacher though, I would base if off of my classes. If I was self-contained, one grid would be sufficient, but if we compartmentalized, I might make a grid for each homeroom that I taught. You will get a feel for how you want to separate your grids the more you use Flipgrid. Often times I start by looking at how I organize my grade book for a start.

Isabel Rodrigues the teacher chooses whether or not the videos are viewable to the students or just to the teacher. Those settings are in the “edit topic” menu. They can upload a video that they previously filmed but not a video form KZitem and not an image.

I used Google Slides to create a way for students to create somewhat of a "self-portrait" slide so that the virtual learners can get to know each other. I created one as well of myself. Is there a way that Flipgrid can be used to show whats on the screen and just record a voice over as you explain the slide?

Yes, you can choose to do a screen recording and record your voice over that. :-}

Hello How can a math teacher use flipgrid?
@abbeythomas8501
3 жыл бұрын
I think Flipgrid is an awesome tool for students to become the teacher in math class. To show the strategies that they use to solve math problems. How great would it be to use Flipgrid for students to show how they worked the problems rather than to just have the answer on paper? 😉

Yes. When you edit the topic you have the option to moderate the topic. It is a toggle switch. The default is unmoderated meaning that the videos go live when they are submitted. But if you flip the moderated switch, the teacher (or creator of the topic) is the only person that will have access to the videos until such a time as he or she decides to make the videos active. The teacher can choose to makes the videos active all at once or can select which videos are allowed to be seen and by whom on an individual basis.

It depends on how you embed it. If you embed the topic (set the permissions as such) they will see the whole topic and all the videos that are active on it. If you just embed certain videos those will be the ones that are seen.

Brand new to Flipgrid. I've watched three videos now and I don't know how to check my students' responses from the teacher page. Where can I find that part of the tutorial? Also, how can students change what they've recorded? Will the students be able to see one another's pictures before I have a chance to see them and approve them? I'm worried about inappropriate pictures being posted by the students. I will be attending tonight's live tutorial. Thank you.
@abbeythomas8501

To check your students' response just click on the topic that you assigned. If your students have posted a response, that is where the responses will be. Students can't edit a video once it has been submitted. If they need to change something, they will have to submit a new video. I hope that helps and Good Luck!

Our school system uses an "opt-out" system. Any parents that don't want their students' videos shown would opt-out. But for all our students, regardless of age, we only showed their first names.

Great tutorial. Thank you. This mays sound silly but is there a minimum age requirement for students to use Flipgrid?
@abbeythomas8501
4 жыл бұрын
Flipgrid is COPPA and FERPA compliant, so all of your students whatever age are safe to use it in the classroom. The teacher decides who is allowed access to the grids and the videos. They can be set to only be seen by the teacher, by the classroom, or by anyone that has the url. Teachers also have the option to delete videos at any time. I would follow your school system's policies and practices for posting pictures and videos of students. When in doubt, ask permission. Most parents are very happy to see the awesome response from their students. You can find more information from Flipgrid here: help.flipgrid.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044789854-Are-Student-Videos-Private-
