Depending on how old you garage door opener is, it could be rolling code and could also be encrypted, making regular replay attack scenarios non viable. Try instead recording the remote out of receiving range of the receiver or just power it off before replaying the code. This could verify that the Flipper is capturing and replaying properly but that the opener's receiver was just ignoring used codes.

Rolling codes with the garage door?

@@sneakyg1250 I’ll test that out. I’ll test a bunch of different methods to open the garage doors. If you have any other technique suggestions then I’ll test it out in that video as well.

So modern homes have safer door remote with what’s called rolling code which is basically a form of encryption. To test this theory you’d need to record the signal from the remote with the garage door motor/recover off or at a far distance. Basically it’s like a disposable code. The motor part mounted in your home knows that it has successfully used that specific signal to open the door once and it will not use it again.

@iwir3d

@@PrestonZen Rolling codes are just a list of codes it could be. They can be so large it's impractical to try them all. The only real known method of beating a rolling code system for modern technology is to "roll jam" it. Meaning your bombarding the frequency with so much junk that the car can't read the keyfob but you can intercept that message to play back later. Someone comes out click button on the their fob to unlock it does nothing because your jamming.. they do it again.. your still jamming you now have 2 codes.. you then "replay" the first code so that it unlocks.. and you now have the next sequence in the rolling code to unlock the door. SDR is just Software Defined Radio, and a HackRF is just a hardware for the software to run on. So those things to not bypass the rolling code problem. Also, it's important to understand that when things broadcast a frequency you get this "base" frequency then you get a "modulation" off that frequency. It's how the cable company is able to send all the tv channels over a coax cable, then you can pick which one you want to watch at your tv. The cable has a base frequency then modulates off that frequency to get the channel. Which is funny because that's based off how the am/fm transistor radio's work. So what I am saying is, you need to make sure you are reading on the correct frequency, then using the correct band. If you think of it like a serial connection on a computer you would have a "port" and a "buad" rate where buad rate allows you to know the speed of which your talking. It's like saying yeah you understand english but can you understand a fast rapper rapping english? Helps to be talking the same speed.
