Steroids gave Flo Jo's face a masculine appearance and she knew it. That's why she over compensated with her long nails, fake hair, and showy outfits just like drag queens do. Today's female bodybuilders who are juiced to the gills with steroids do the same type of thing to try and downplay their masculine appearance.

CMONIQUEZ Don't be ridiculous. She was never drug tested out of competition because there was no such thing at the time. Every athlete knew how late coming up to a competition they could safely come off the massive steroid regimes they were on. People who sold her steroids have clearly stated as such. She retired as soon as they announced random out of comp testing because she knew it would look suspicious when she could suddenly never approach those performances again without drugs, as was the case 1 only year prior when she made the decision to start juicing. Her 100m WR was assisted by a 5-7ms wind anyway - the physics has been analyzed and is beyond dispute, but the IAAF is too scared to negate the record-which she would still own at 10.61 anyway.

ha ha hah...are you joking?....1. no 100-metre sprint record in modern history has ever been improved by 3 metres...men or women...ever....do you get it now?....ever....even a heavily juiced Ben Johnson did not break the mend WR by 3 metres when he won the Gold Medal in Montreal 2. Joyner had never run more than nearly 1.5 metre slower than the then WR before her WR run i.e. she improved by 4.5 metres to break the WR...impossible......and clearly her juice level had to be right which her coaching staff had been working on for a couple of years to perfect. 3. all US & EURO athletes were experimenting with new juice throughout this period...there is a long history of doping in US women's athletics e.g. the US 100 metres 2000 gold medalist Marion Jones . 3. her quads were striated like a man's...as her pics show..a sure sign of highly raised hormone levels 4. she died of a heart attack at 37....too many roids clearly....so take your fan fantasy & get a life.....

The woman was clearly, beautiful, and feminine, plus she had a baby the next year .. People like R.E. Lopez below really annoy me. What is Usain Bolt and Jamaicans taking then?, because he came out of nowhere in 2008 smashing the world records, and the year before, Tyson Gay killed him at the 2007 worlds..... idiots. Fast don't make you elite. Elite don't make you smash world records by that margin in that short period of time. Like I said earlier it is some others opinion. So many variables that look shady. Neither of us were there every day. Not being among the living does not give her a pass. BTW the sport has been hijacked by steroids for the last several decades. You sound naive or in love. I celebrate athletes like Evelyn Ashford and Michael Johnson. Hey they are human too. If I thought they had ever used then I'd never utter a syllable of their names again. This is just like any other sport. If ppl posted negative comments about your favorite NFL team them what? If you are annoyed that easily, may I suggest a new hobby. Perhaps robotics?

I just love watching her spool up to that crazy top gear she has - it's not steroids you jabbering fools - it was her leg action, the technique of her front foot forward kick reaching out farther - giving her that longer stride -and bigger angle between her legs, creating a longer, faster backwards footstrike. This is what gave her that foot speed pushing backwards that propelled her to a top speed a crazy couple mph faster than everyone else. The slow-mo and freeze-frame tells the story. The exact same thing made Secretariat's speed possible; his foreleg reach made a 110°angle between his foreleg and hind leg - visibly more than the next fastest horse, at around a 90°angle. This is where that longer stride and footstrike and speed comes from - not steroids.

First of all nothing has ever been proven. This is America and this is the internet and every one has their opinions. Having said that... It's hard to believe that she wasn't on something. This is just my personal opinion. I am a life long track fan. I have never seen a body type change that quickly. I have never seen a dominance come along like that with the exception of Bolt (I have questions about all the Caribbean nations lack of off season testing). I have appreciated her contribution to the sport. However, my favorite female sprinter of all time is Evelyn Ashford! She never morphed. Her longevity is unmatched (Ottey is documented why she lasted). Ashford had a steady progression to the elite level. To the likes of (Anthony Jones) and others that is what this forum is for . Everyone expressing their opinions and enjoying a piece of T&F history. Anyone that don't like what is said... leave. The fact that she is deceased doesn't give her pass. @@jonfred9675 No, in fact when she died she was training for that next Olympics for I believe it was either the 400 meters or the 1,600 meters. I forget which one, but she was actively training for the Olympics during the time of her death. That's a fact!

God Bless Her. God Keep Her. Thankful to hear of her Journey to get to where she was talented to be. (She is and will forever be an inspiration to both Women & Men to chase their dreams). She embodies this quote: "You must show No Mercy, nor have ANY belief, whatsoever, in how others judge you.. For your Greatness will Silence them All..." ~Warrior Bless Her Melanin & Honor To God for allowing her to Bless her Generation & those who follow after.

Nobody did it like Flo jo. Look at her...stylish and fast. She was unique and she passed every drug test. Her death is suspicious though, and it's not drugs.

People forget Flo-Jo won silver at the 1984 Olympics. So this wasn't just out of the blue.

@@cld_crush_brthers_ultra_ma60 yeah and its about the times really not the result maybe she was clean but knocking half a second of a 100metre time an equivalent would have been bolt going from 9.69 to 9.2

Women have been running sub 11's since the mid seventies, Evelyn Ashford ran 10.76 and that record held up for year's; someone had to break that barrier. You look now and the women are still running those 10.7 times, this past Olympic's is proof that women aren't really trying to run that fast... Their training regiment's are still stuck in the 60's, and 70's!!! Flo Jo was just ahead of Her time, was clearly stronger than the other women sprinter's at that time... I believe she was clean!!! U.S.A. track & field really need's improved coaching from top to bottom, you see the Jamaican runner's dominating right now because their training is much better... Period!!!

Do Flo Jo's workout for one month, no assistance... I believe ANYONE would suddenly be able to accomplish physical feats we only dreamed were possible. Her work out and coach were killer to a woman athlete in her time. Been there.....

Its the steroids that made the difference. Sub 10.8 has been achieved 62 times. 35 of these times have been since the year 2000. WADA formed in 1999. Go figure

I'm no athletics expert but I am insanely observant & I find it gobsmacking that people can't see what's going on with her trailing leg compared to the other runners. It's easy to see where her speed comes from, & it aint drugs.
