With the finished floor and finished ceiling can you stand up in your mid-roof Trail being 6ft tall?

Not straight up. I have hunch a little but it hasn't been bad. Most of the time spent inside is sitting or laying down. When I am standing I'm usually looking down to cook or something which is enough to clear so it's really not as big of a deal as I thought it would be at first.

@@Trailtec4x4 thanks for the details. I like the look of a medium roof Transit. I'm 5'11 and my wife is 5'. Still deciding on HR or MR. Thanks for recording, editing and posting your journey. The build alone is a lot of work so I appreciate the extra effort to share with the world.

Thank you for watching. I had to skip a lot of the build just to get things done. Especially at the end, but I tried to hit the high points.

Nice work! -- Your videos will help me build a Trail i have on order. I ordered one with the vinyl floor from the factory. What I plan to do is use 80/20 to frame everything on top of the vinyl. My plan is to box the inside completely. 80/20 will lay across the factory vinyl floor and be anchored to the walls, ceiling, tie-downs and itself (as a box frame). This forms "patches" in the floor where 80/20 lays on top that I can cut foam to fit inside and brace with flanges. That gives me a protected and insulated floor that I can easily pull-up at any time to replace a section or clean. Then I can put a mat or rug over the walkable sections to cover the 80/20 frame and insulation. Additionally, on the walls and ceiling and maybe floor, I will put rubber between the 80/20 and van frame, to prevent heat conduction. I am not sure if this idea will work.. i have not seen anyone else try it this way. Just giving you another idea, as you have the vinyl in place to do it this way.

Thanks for watching and glad it helps. I have used wood framing and 80/20 in the past but honestly, I have a cabinet maker background and it takes me three times as long (and way more cost) to build with 80/20 than just using wood. I'll be attaching everything to the walls and to this plywood subfloor as I go so it will be very well supported. Different concepts but hopefully you'll still find some useable ideas as I go. Thanks again!

Being a complete rookie with time on his hands is the very first thing with Transit Trail to remove the flooring the comes with it? Tnen put Killmat on the floor, sides and roof? Baby steps for this guy.

It's a good first step. Mine didn't have the factory floor, so I got to skip that step.

It looks really nice. Nice work getting a great fit with the plywood. How did you decide on your floor insulation? Curious of your choice over a thicker, say 1”, foam board. I just bought the Transit 350 HR and planning my build, so watching your build for inspiration

Well, it's a mid roof, 6' high inside, and I'm 6' tall soooo less thickness was my goal. Lol. If I had the height, I'd probably use something thicker, but honestly, the floor wasn't my biggest concern. I'll have rugs down to help too.

@@Trailtec4x4 That is what I figured. Thanks. I was thinking of using the material you used on the floor between the headliner and the roof

@patweidmann6804 They make it in a 8mm version too for walls and ceiling. I found the thinsulate worked perfect to fill that gap but more on in the next video. 😉
