Seen her 3 times live now and she is just unreal. This possibly my favourite Florence track, along with Free.

Just a sprinkling of fabulous female talent from across the pond to consider - KT Tunstall "black horse and the cherry tree", Annie Lennox "little bird", Fairground Attraction "perfect" Tanita Tikaram "twist in my sobriety" and The Cranberries "linger"

I've heard of this band before, but never consciously listened to any of their songs .. However, this sounded a bit familiar to me, so I must have heard it on the radio at some point .. I quite like it .. Great melody, vocals, and mix of instrumentation .. And now that you have brought attention to the lyrics and the meaning, they're also good .. So it's a thumbs up from me ! 👍 .. Cheers, Wayne

Florence has an amazing voice. The album "Lungs" is amazing and one I listen to regularly. Another Florence song I love is "Breath Of Life" from the film "Snow White and the Huntsman". Others have mentioned Annie Lennox, another amazing female singer. "Love song for a Vampire", "Little Bird" and "Walking on Broken Glass" are songs I really enjoy.

Enjoyed it, and Florence does have a fine voice. Have you heard of Eva Cassidy? if not please take a listen ,she had a wonderful voice and was such a 'pure' guitarist too, sadly she died at just 33, but left a legacy of beautiful music. A perfect starting point would be 'Somewhere over the rainbow' yep I know loads of versions out there, but if this doesn't blow you away then nothing will - seriously. Then you can dive into the rabbit hole lol

I'm from your mom's generation and one of your Kate Bush reaction followers, but there are a lot of more recent artists that I love, too, and Florence is great. Thanks for reacting to this. I had only listened to "Hurricane Drunk" before. I really appreciate the ones who have a more individualistic sound and aesthetic. Some amazing more recent female artists that I also love are Marina, Bjork, My Brightest Diamond, St. Vincent, Goldfrapp, Amanda Palmer, Lana Del Rey & Tori Amos.

I'm also a huge Kate Bush fan. I think if you love Kate, there is a lot to love of Florence's music. She is a very diverse woman musically. You can't get a full scope of her sound off of one or even a handful of songs. ~ I definitely recommend checking out more from her. She actually just released a new album and is finishing or just finished the tour for it? But even off of it I think there is plenty to enjoy. " Heaven is Here " is very dance driven like Kate's work. It's very old traditional. " Cassandra " is the song I assume you'd most enjoy. " Daffodil " is cinematic and gothic storytelling. " Choreomania " is just . . .. gush worthy. ( for me ) and " Dream Girl Evil " is about people . . . especially lovers comparing her to this image they had in their head that she can't measure up to and has that flair of 60's-70's psychedelic mix with baroque pop. and those are JUST from the most recent album. She hasn't released a bad album in my opinion. VERY diverse.

Powerful video! Florence has an amazing emotive powerful expressive voice. Great percussion in the background too! Speaking of emotive, I thought of a song you would really like reacting to is “Nothing Compares to You,” the version by Sinead O’Connor. And specifically, the official music video that shows her face close-up. Very emotive.

Kate is undeniably an influential force in music. A mix of Kate, Grace Slick, Stevie Nicks, Annie Lennox, Pattie Smith, Bowie and Mick Jagger absolutely inspire her. But I think this one is definitely more in the Annie Lennox inspired lane. It's always great when an artist you can hear their inspirations BUT it's still unique to them. They're not just carbon copying.
