Fabric one or fabric two would be a wonderful addition to my stash. I joke that I have the largest stash of fabric for someone who doesn’t sew. Actually, I have hand sewn a tiny bit over the years, and I am finally learning to machine sew in order to more efficiently learn to piece to quilt.

I am so flattered that you referenced my comments again and shared with your viewers the info I shared about persimmons. You are such a blessing to the needlework community by researching, sharing, and preserving what otherwise might become lost to time. I so wish I had been able to glean the knowledge you and Shellie Fry in particular have imparted via Floss Tube when I was writing my thesis for my MFA in Creative Nonfiction 10 years or so ago. My purpose was to share and preserve family history especially that of our matriarchs. While I wrote about the oral traditions of unwritten recipes, I would have loved to have also woven in threads of stories about my grandmother’s and great-grandmother’s embroidery, sewing, etc. I have recently discovered that a sampler stitched by my 2nd cousin six times removed in 1790 is at the Charleston Museum. With the approval and assistance of the curator and others, I am trying to replicate it. Writing about that process would have been a wonderful chapter in my thesis. I also discovered a family quilt that was a spoil of war and wound up in the hands of a rival and is at a museum in Kansas. The lessons you are teaching are invaluable, and 1870 promises to be particularly relevant to my own research. The thesis may be finished, but there are still tales that need telling. Thank you for being a true asset to the community of Needle Art!

Susan, watching your videos is like watching a video of a baby laughing - I become fascinated with what you find fascinating just because of your winsome personality! I love that book about American samplers because a friend is charting an antique sampler from a local historical society - it is so interesting to just study the stitching and think about the girl. Your channel has given me insights into her time period (even though it is a little earlier than your focus from last year - 1834). Thank you for three years of interesting content and the pleasure of your enthusiasm!

Medlar trees were very common in the 1600's rural England and Wales. It's where the phrase "as rotten as a medlar" came from because they were eaten only when nearly rotten. There is an episode in the series "tales from the Green Valley" that discusses Medlar fruit, its harvesting, and uses. They are more of a rust brown color however so not sure if that's what it is in the sampler.

Thank you so much for that additional information. I’ve had so much fun researching some of these ancient fruits in my quest to determine what I am Stitching! I know they were mentioned in early literature and I look forward to watching Tales from the Green Valley to find out more. Medlar fruit seems to carry quite a negative connotation, which is interesting as well!!! The next thing I need to do is taste it.

Susan - what a delightful idea you have to bring history and stitching/creative arts together! I will join you on the 1870's journey and am looking forward to learning more about the time period. I especially enjoy stitching samplers and thinking about who the originator was. Sharing your start from the pandemic and story about your kids challenging you was absolutely endearing. The quilt behind you is glorious, and I will go back through your videos to look for more info and a closer look into. The colors are gorgeous and especially the blue just grabs me! I am looking forward to getting to know you:))

Hi Terry!!!! Welcome back. Unfortunately the fabric packs are sold out but I am working on more but different. These kits are one and done due to the nature of the fabric industry! If you want to keep up to date on new releases I would suggest you sign up for the newsletter or n my website. !!!
