Hi fellow Minnesotans! Oh, oh, oh!!! Peeing baby dogs! When my friend got her baby Poodle Bichon, I recall that she pee'd all over all the time. She had to take little Rose out every hour to pee. Rose also learned to ring the bell to let her out to pee. It did take some time. Rose was well over 5 months before she stopped this 'habit'. Good luck with your little munchkin. Love the finishes as well from both of you. Have a great road trip!! Oh man! A road trip!!! What a blast. Love your Lucy Beam project Shelley. Really pretty. And I await the capes!!! Thanks for another fun video!

We have a male shih tzu that we rescued at 5 months (he just turned a year) the vet told me it was submissive pee. He recommended that those he did it with- meet him outside or on non carpet flooring, sit down, let him go to them and have them have his favorite treat. Have them stay in the floor for several minutes before they stand. It some how worked. Unless he thinks he is in trouble then he will still pee 🫤 but it's getting less too. It's a good thing they are cute!! I love the Lucy Beam!! Congratulations on finishing Turkey Hollow 🙌 I have been focusing on WIPs this year but 10 make me feel overwhelmed 😄 Thank you for sharing your time and talents with us.

You two never fail to make me laugh 😂 I loved seeing all of the beautiful stitching you showed today. Shelly, Turkey Hollow and Bushel and a Peck are gorgeous, as is your After the Roses. I've got that one slated to start next year and I i can't wait. Justine, your Fall on the Farm is looking so sweet, and I'm cheering you on for Button, Button's finish. That story about your dad breaking the chandelier cracked me up. The same thing happened to a friend of mine in a restaurant 🤣. Have an awesome road trip to your retreat ladies!! And Shelly, I don't have a dog, but I know Kimberly from the Fat Quarter Shop has a dog who must wear diapers because he keeps peeing all over the house,! 😂. I'm sure things wont have to progess that far for you😊. Good luck with the pup...hope you can find a solution!

Shelley, I understand your house training frustration. I have had the opposite problem, we have had three rescues of adult dogs who obviously had never been in a house before. It was natural for them to go anywhere. Each dog took a lot of patience and frequent trips (and rewards) outside. It took months for each dog. At times I thought I could lose my mind. But I can say we had 100% success with each dog. I think the biggest problem with yours is that she is so young. Females also do "submissive wetting" where they urinate in the presence of any female (human or animal) they consider dominant. I think she needs time, patience and the crate helps. Good luck.

You need to take her out every 1/2 hour, no matter if she need to go or not. You might even have to wake her up to go outside. This has to be done even at night. Give her praise every time you go out with her. Especially when she goes. Do not get mad at her if she goes in the house as she will continue to go in the house. Once she is trained to go outside, then you can get mad at her if she goes in the house. Hopefully, less than one week she will be trained. 😊

Oh, the excited pee is a tough one to conquer. When she is going to greet someone, distract her with a toy or a treat a minute prior. I think they outgrow that 6-8 months old. hang in there. Set a timer, every 2 hrs take the puppy out, and especially after eating, playing, drinking, napping... Carry her to the area you want her to go. Then of course lots of praise. Hope this helps :)

Shelly, once dogs get used to their crates, they love them! Put treats, toys, blankets, etc. in the crate. You will cheer the first time you catch her in there on her own. I also spent a lot of time outdoors acting like an overly enthusiastic idiot saying "good potty" over and over again supplemented with treats. I began with chicken and eventually switched to dog treats. Did I mention treats and catching her being good? My neighbors thought I was crazy, but my enthusiasm over her going potty with the addition of treats really worked. Also, take her out before she needs to go, usually 5-10 minutes after eating and every 20 minutes or so after. My dog eventually pee'd on command. Somehow they always have some pee in there!! Be patient, hang in there. Baby talk excitement and treats work!
