First time watching you.... wonderful stitches and video! On the Little House, a couple of suggestions would be Dr. Joseph Warren, Crispus Attucks, Sybil Luddington (history teacher kicking in). Also, on the pre-printed fabric, I am not sure you will get a true reflection on the trees as it is printed the same way; so turning one upside down will put them caddy-corner to each other. Take care!

Welcome! Thank you so much for the historical figure suggestions too - I will add them to the list to read about. Aaah -- and you are absolutely right about flipping the fabric too. Hmm! I must think about this more ...

I'm intrigued by your ideas for the fireworks piece. I think it will be a great project with your new vision. I've loved that embroidery piece with the woman in the hat for years, but I never purchased it. (I think I saw it in AC Moore too.) I think cost was prohibitive for me at the time too. It was lovely to see your framed piece. When I was in my teens I attempted crewel embroidery several times but I didn't have a lot of patience with it. I've picked up a couple of small kits recently and am hoping to try it with more enjoyment and greater success as an adult. Frost has been my favorite poet since highschool; what a wonderful version of that book! I agree with your thoughts about book stores. Browsing and cover art have led me to books I've loved that I would never had picked up if I hadn't been in the store. 🪡👠

The lady in the hat piece clearly resonates, doesn't she? I remember doing a whole lot of fudging while I was stitching her, but now when I look at it, I really can't tell at all. I'm sure a more experienced embroiderer could, but they don't visit often. :D I'm just happy that I am happy with it. I am hopeful I'll have more patience/luck with it now too. It's so true about browsing for books! I'd gotten out of the habit of it for awhile, but now I see it as an adventure.

I love your Magic of Christmas finishes. I really want to do the Little House ABCs, at some point. I love how yours turned out! BTW, I also give myself stitch assignments. It is so satisfying to meet the specific stitchy goals I set. A book about food . . . Hmmm. I just looked on my TBR shelves and realize I will need to make a purchase. 😊. We have an independent recycled book store in town that has been missing me.

The lady on the hat is beautiful! I like your fabric for the fireworks! 🎆 I will be joining your reading prompts this time. It just so happens that I recently bought a cozy mystery at our Friends Of The Library book section ( at my local library). It’s called “The Diva Says Cheesecake!” By Krista Davis. Cozy mysteries have the best cover pictures. Hard to resist. 😅

I’m intrigued by your idea to put the two fabrics together for your fireworks piece. What I could envision is taking the water fabric and inserting it on the tree fabric. You could cut it irregularly to fit in between the trees and fray the edges and then stitch the fireworks and reflection in the water. I’m looking forward to seeing your choice because I think it’s going to be so unique. Patti

Thank you, Patti! I am also thinking of how to have the water fabric surrounded by the trees too. I think the irregular cuts and fraying like you mentioned will be key too. I just have to figure out how to do it in reality. :D

Hi Deborah. Thanks for picking my name! It’s the first time for me and I’m excited for that🥰 Your idea for combining the two fabrics is very interesting but I wouldn’t try to dye them as usual because I’m afraid that that would ruin the original designs. Maybe you can find some colours for drawing on fabric and paint on the fabrics the themes you’ll like or make the colour of the water more greenish? By the way the fabric with the forest theme spoke to my heart!💕 I’m going to try to join you following the prompts for the books and get the motivation to start to read again!😊💕 I have several books with traditional Greek recipes but also some regarding the relation we have as humans with the food and how that developed thru the centuries. I’m leaning for the second theme. I’ll let you know what book I’ll pick.😊

You're very welcome, Mary! I am still not sure about trying to dye the printed fabrics either. They might run or it might ruin the effect. I think I'll try a test strip and see what happens, but it's entirely possible it won't be good. :| I was thinking of just trying to make the water more green-ish and leave the trees piece as-is as you suggest too. Isn't that one just lovely? I am so glad the reading prompt is getting you thinking of reading again too! Both of the themes you're thinking of sound wonderful too. I am also currently deciding between one, one about Chinese restaurants around the world and one a memoir of someone learning to cook. We'll see what gets picked ...

Oh, how wonderful! Two of my “stitchy wish list” items are to make a needle book and to stitch something from La-D-Da. Her charts are LOVELY. I’ve been admiring the Early Americans series, and I’m excited to follow your progress. Also looking up the instant antique spray - that might be just the thing for a previous project of mine that needs a little something extra. Thank you!

Oh, perfect! I'm glad they are headed your way then. I bought the instant antique spray years ago, but I do think it's still around. My understanding is it's made with walnut shells, and they are definitely still popular with stitchers. I am thinking my Apple Branch piece may need a little something post-stitching too.

Great to see you. Great progress and success on your Advent pieces and the ABC’s. On the seasonal piece, are you stitching each side by turning it or stitching down the side ( if that makes sense). I think you mentioned how you are doing it. I think I meant to say are all the Xs facing the same way. Ohh great tree fabric! Those blue and orange birds are blue birds😊 Are you going to Shaw in Niagara on the Lake? My daughter is working on The Secret Garden and My Fair Lady. My coworkers and I are seeing My Fair Lady in September. I already went to see Secret Garden in June. Love Robert Frost. Since your Canadian friend took an ice cream tour, ask her to take you on The Buttertart Trail when you get to Ontario😊😊 I showed my coworkers the book challenge books you got, and prompt idea. We got very encouraged. I’ll search for a book about food. I work tomorrow at the library.📚

Hi Linda! On the seasonal piece, I am turning and stitching it "right way up" for each set of letters, so the Xs do go in different directions sometimes. I have finished two of the seasons now, and I think it works perfectly fine that way. And it helps my brain understand the stitching a little more too! I do expect we'll see a couple Shaw productions. I'd love to see either My Fair Lady or The Secret Garden if they fit into our schedule. I hope your daughter is having a wonderful time on those shows this season! If you happen to be down NOTL way next week, let me know and maybe we could grab coffee at Balzac's and stitch a bit? I am so glad the prompts and books and resonating with people too - I can't wait to hear what you decide to read!
