Good go see another videos from you, Laurel. I am grateful to you, my cousins and all the people who work in education (in whatever capacity) right now who are working so hard to keep our children (all ages) educated safely in these challenging times with our ever changing new "normal." Please stay well and safe, and again thank you for sharing you lovely stitching with us.

Thank you for being so flexible with your job. I know my kids appreciate our librarians. The kids aren’t allowed to go pick books out physically in the library. But they can pick them out through the school’s online catalogue and then the librarian delivers it to their classroom. That magnet is for the fridge! And the Santa kitty is amazing 😂

It's sad they can't go into the library to choose books...but I am glad they are learning how to browse on the catalog! My assistant and I try to have the kids do both, but it's pretty restrictive inside the library due to cleaning procedures. Thanks for watching, Jenny! 😊

I don't think they are the best xstitch patterns, but someone more experienced than me could make them stunning! They are found on her author website www.janbrett.com/cross_stitch/cross_stitch_main_page.htm

Glad to see you back! I think you already know this, but in case you want affirmation: it's totally okay to put down a project if it's causing you stress! A hobby should be for relaxing & having fun. You'll get back to the owl in better days when you have a larger mental/energy capacity, there's no deadline!

Your Mill Hills are cute. I usually turn them into magnets. I glue felt on the back (I use Glue-All) and then glue the magnet on the felt. Stay safe. Happy holidays!

Hi Laurel! Good to see you again. Just listening to you tell about school is draining, so I can't imagine how much it must be draining for you. We still haven't opened our {public} library to the public, except for people who make an appointment to work on a computer, but that's one person at a time. The school where my husband teaches and my son attends (and I was the former librarian at) purposely went virtual after Thanksgiving and stayed that way until about 1/2 way through January, so they've been back face-to-face for a couple of weeks now. Fingers crossed they can stay that way. I didn't know Jan Brett made cross stitch patterns. I will have to go check those out. I ordered a couple of Mill Hill kits earlier today, and I think the snow globe piece is one that I ordered. I hope the virtual teaching goes smoothly. ~Katrina

Welcome back! sorry to hear about your work. mine was super busy lately too. I think it's just the season. Suddenly, everything goes crazy before the end of the year. You can glue the magnet and put it on your fridge, but u can also just make it into a pin. depends on what you see it like. I love your Nemue cat! It's so detailed! I am trying to hunt their charts but they aren't popular in China at all.

Thanks, Anastasia! I purchase the pattern from Half Moon Stitchery but I think it's originally French. I am not sure if US shops are selling overseas at the moment though 😣

I totally sympathize with your feeling overwhelmed by this whole mess that this virus has caused. At the school that I work at the teachers literally don't know whether they're coming or going till sometimes not even a day before. I work as the head cook in the food services there, & this week we started making meals to be delivered to the students whose parents opt to receive them, because our students were virtual all this past week. Even that was chaotic. We received an email this morning about what's going to happen this week, but it was so confusing that I don't even know if the students will actually be coming back to in-person learning this week or not. It's just insane, & I can't even begin to imagine how it would be for you & the teachers. I don't like living in a "fly by the seat of your pants" state of chaos, but that's pretty much what this whole past 9 months+ has been. Hopefully, we will someday soon get back to some, or even any kind of normalcy. Jan Brett's The Mitten used to be a favorite of my kids when they were little, such a cute book & beautifully illustrated. We still have it 20+ yrs later. I hope things settle down for you with your schedule & that you'll be able to get some more destressing & stitching time in. Your finishes are really cute. Take care!

"Fly by the seat of your pants" sums up this entire school year. I imagine food services is very chaotic with the switching between virtual and distance learning. And oh, how did I forget to mention 'The Mitten'?! Such a classic!!! 🤩

Glad to see you back. Have you seen some libraries are using and/or installing UV light sanitizing machines for when books get checked out?
@mountainlaurelstitches
3 жыл бұрын
Oh, that's interesting! I haven't seen UV light used in libraries - I'd imagine that would take a lot of time to do each book. We have been quarantining the books for 72 hours before we check them in...makes for quite a backlog though! 😬

If you want to make it a magnet just hot glue it to the back of your kitty.
