Hi Karla, thanks for sharing, I find using the organiser card method really easy, one hint I would like to add is that I highlight the key part of the paper pattern with the colour organiser card that the floss is on, that helps me to reduce my time looking for the floss by simply identifying which card it is on. Hope you are well and getting on with your first big project x

This was fun to watch. I do not bobbinate, too much effort. I have evolved to using a Flossbuddy made by Bagzplus. She has different sizes, so I have now two 90 pocket Flossbuddies and I would not give them back. I also have the symbol printed on sticky paper and attached to the vinyl, that saves so much time. Thank you for sharing

Oh, I can totally see that they are expensive. If you get one from one of BendyStitchys live sale on KZitem, it is a bit cheaper or I think you can use BENDY10 on her Etsy and possibly her Flosstube. But I think my friend Shelley from Keyxstitch has got just the pocket thingy without any fabric around it. I know she got that cheap from somewhere, if I remember I will ask. And then you could put your own fabric around it (as you are pretty crafty, that should not be a problem 😉) I just know it was totally worth it for me and my current HAED... which will be an ongoing project for a few years 🙈

Hi Karla. I enjoyed seeing the different ways you used to organize your floss. I am strictly a Floss-Away bag organizer. I have them on rings sorted by number. But I don't usually pull out floss to kit up a project. I just pull a strand from my master bags as I go. Thank you for sharing your methods!

Thank you so much for a watching. I have very little space in my apartment so things (like my master floss boxes) get stacked up. It would be a major hassle to get each piece of floss if I did not kit up my projects. But I have learned that I don't need to put a lot of floss in each project - just a few lengths of each color.

Hi Karla. Enjoyed watching your video on how you keep your floss organized. Just to let you know, I am participating in the 24 hours of cross stitch and I am by myself but my two cats are keeping me company. I found the way that you keep your floss interesting. I have tried that over the years of some of the stuff that you do. I got to the point where I would have 20 skeins of 310 or 15 skeins of 3371 or goodness knows how many skeins of any other one color or two. So now I keep all my floss in floss bags with three-by-five cards in them and they are all in one container in order. For me I have found this is the best way to do it. I tried rings but I had a very hard time finding the ring set that I would need for a color. Since I don't go anywhere to cross stitch and no one comes to cross stitch with me this is the easiest way for me. I would start the other house also. I work on them alternately. But I can't wait to see when you get it started. I would like to see a video of how you diagonal Stitch and how you park. I find parking to be very confusing and would like to see how you do it. Looking towards your next video tomorrow have a great day.

Hi sweet lady! I am always interested in all the ways to organize. What a great idea. If you ever want to join in on Virtual Stitchers on Facebook, everyone gets online through Zoom and stitches and chats - it's like a video conference but FUN! ;) I did it this weekend for 24hoursofcrossstitch after everyone went to bed. I love FLOSS DROPS! Thanks for sharing your process!

Ooh that is so frustrating because I really want to respond in a timely manner. i have heard several people talk about Virtual Stitchers and I am intrigued ...but I am also a bit embarrassed to say I have no idea what Zoom is so I will have to do a bit of research to figure out what it is and how I get on it etc. Now I feel about a hundred years old...

Nice. I’ve never tried the floss bag method - too time consuming. I do like the thread keepers like Panko. When you mentioned using one side and two rings I thought it might be easy just to keep them in a flexible ringed binder. Thanks for sharing and happy stitching 🧵

Hi Karla, Enjoyed watching your video and how you do your threads.I put my threads on bobbins and store them in plastic hot wheels storage box's.Also put them in the rectangler plastic box when i kit up what i'm going to do. I put my extra thread in bags in numeral order. I have 11 of the DMC boxes that when i ever retire from work i want to get thread in them. There's just never enough time. Have a great day.

I like that I can just add a few strands of each color of floss (depending on the size of the project of course) and leave the rest in my master stash. If I run out of floss for the project I can refill from the master stash but usually only a few strands are actually needed. That way I can use the same color in multiple projects without having to purchase a whole new skein or go searching. I need to finish my Lavender Roses HAED so I can put all those flosses back in the master stash - I feel like they are being held hostage now and I have to go searching for them if I need some for another project.

KarlaBeingCrafty I think that was what I liked best.....I’m definitely a floss hostage holder! Then I’m searching for the floss when I want it for another project. Just ordered some of the long cards and some metal rings. Also liked your idea with copying the numbers/symbols on sticky paper for the cards! I love to organize!!! My weekend is cut out for me!😁

Also...how do you organize your master floss box? I need a way to organize my overdyes....I bobbinate my dmc
@karlabeingcrafty1089
5 жыл бұрын
@@lucycraft1 I haven't really organized my overdyed flosses yet - but I don't have that much so I can see everything even though they are just in a pile in a pretty box. I use Floss-away bags for my DMC with a 3x5 colored index card in them to give them stability. Then I just put them in numerical order in pretty box that is the right height. I put an index card between each number group 1-99, 101-299 etc. I think it would be harder with over-dyed flosses because each company has a different method - names, numbers etc. but I would probably separate each company and then either put them in numerical order, or alphabetical order or group by colors depending on how the individual company codes their flosses. I don't have a lot of space in my studio so I need my storage method to be pretty on the outside since they are sitting out.

I have been using the plastic bag method for my projects but like you, I am looking for a better way to sort my floss for when I start my HAED, I picked up a hole punch at Micheals a couple days ago and will attempt to make my own drops , maybe using the plastic dmc floss cards and then hang my floss into a filing box in some sort of order. I want to be able to find the color I need quickly so thought the filing box would work best. Got that at walmart along with the folders that hang into it. I will use the method that a mother and daughter floss tuber team use to sort all their floss. If I think of their name I will come back and put it here for you to watch as well. I loved their organization method. Anyway hope that ramble made sense. Happy stitching :)

Shawne R I think you are talking about the other Karla and her daughter Samantha. I do watch them. I store my “master” stash of floss in the floss away bags and usually just pull out a few lengths to kit up for projects and put it in drops or cards. I like the bags for this kind of storage as it is easy to put the extras away when the project is completed and the floss is very protected

I too was annoyed with the Bobben system . Didn't like that idea of the Flossaway bags take up too much space. I used the rings and the punch out format you're currently using but if it's a long-term project the threads get all messed up when they come in and out of the bag that I stored it in. show I made my own system using DMC's stitchbows. My format is in a Rolodex concept on a tray that I built out of basswood or Balsawood... so very cheap and with a little glue. Each tray holds about 40 stitch bows (varies with my boxes) and in the storage bin I'm currently using which is a 14 1/4 x 9 1/2 x 6 7/8 I have five trays so a total of 200 threads. This keeps them in nice rows and reduces fraying and cat hair. The beauty of this way is you can adjusted to any size box you want just cut the balsawood to size. If you want to see it just let me know I wish I could attach a photo but KZitem doesn't let me .

The thing that bothers me about the plastic rectangles with hexagon cuts for floss is that every sticky label tends to want to peel off quickly. I even tried double sided tape. Otherwise they would have been great.

Love the video and love watching how people organize their stitching. I’m so back and forth with how to store my floss. I want quick and easy. I was gifted a bunch of DMC floss that was already in a floss bag method, so I just added mine to it. The bags get so bulky and drive me nuts but I don’t want to redo everything. Please do a parking method video and if you know anyone that has a good video let me know. I would like to do a full coverage but I would need a organized way.I get interrupted a lot when I stitch and don’t want to frog.

Stitching Daisy frogging is actually not been an issue at all with full coverage the way I do it. If I make a mistake it is in the parking which I discover and fix before the stitch is made. I really suggest starting with a smaller full coverage just so you can perfect your methods and find out if you like doing it . For me the whole process is very different from my other stitching - although equally enjoyable! If you go onto the heaven and earth website put QS into the pattern search and you will see all the quick stitch projects which are the same as the big ones in method -just usually 100 to 200 stitches per side instead of the 500 - 600 stitches that a regular one is
