I thought I was alone in not enjoying stitchy kindness segments. It brings me back to high school where there are exclusive relationships I’ll never be a part of. I know that’s not the intent, but that’s how I feel.

Your new "format" will be such a relief not having all the haul (which is sometimes fun to see) but mostly not talking about all the "stitching kindness" you receive. I wish others would follow in this direction. It's nice that people send things but I think it looks more like free advertising for Etsy shops they probable have. I love seeing things you're working on with your addition of some quilting. Keep it up!! And thanks for those gorgeous scenic photos in the beginning of your videos.

Love the new format! I think you’re going to start a positive trend by limiting happy mail! I find myself scanning through alot of the gift showings😉 I’m happy for the recipient, but don’t need to see it all. Now haul and kitted projects on the other hand is so inspiring and allows me to see things I never knew existed! Truthfully I’ve been feeling like so many flosstubers talk about friendships with each other that I am not an important part of the circle…..gosh that sounds so woe is me, but I have felt such a kinship with the flosstube world and lately it feels like they have all they need in each other and I’m on the bench. Sad, but true. Not all of them, and never you, but I can’t be alone on that feeling. In todays world, we are connected more often than not by social media and like it or not…it can be personal and sometimes hurtful. Your projects are beautiful and I always feel your passion for all you do! Thank you. Forgive my rant, but it is a real concern for more than just myself. You all are my people😄

Thank you, Laurie! Great comment and thanks for the ‘positive trend’ feedback. I feel that we do need to connect and not be leaving anyone out. Haul and happy mail were my personal demise. I can see what is out there to purchase if I want and just felt I didn’t need to see everyone’s purchases when I have so much of my own needle and thread items to finish. We are blessed as a community in that we can buy so many charts, flosses, and fabrics in such excess, and at times I feel like we (myself included) are wallowing in pure overindulgence. My parents generation would call it ‘being spoiled.’ I also know that many have contacted me saying they felt like some FlossTubers treat haul like there is no objection as to how much money they spend. I just want to finish my projects, start a few new things, and enjoy the process of creativity. At times I go for months treating my purchases like a game - how LITTLE can I purchase to FINISH the most projects? I have met many new friends thruFlossTube and love the connections from Comments most of all. Thank you for the comment, my new like-minded stitching, kindred spirit♥️. Hugs, blessings, and most importantly, happy stitching!

I find it very discouraging when I see 1 1/2 hour videos. Everyone’s time is so valuable and when I am at the point I get to stitch and look at Flosstube I want to see stitching and not shopping with so many purchases we know they will never be stitched. Your videos are a true gift I give myself and I guarantee I don’t fast forward through them. Thank you so much for taking your valuable time to share!,

I am very happy to hear about your new format. Crafters are sending their (beautiful) homemade items and shops are sending free items to so many flosstubers which is thoughtful but seems to be a form of advertisement that I am not interested in seeing. I have given serious thought to not watching some that wind up spending a lot of time on this. I don't mind seeing haul though, if you change your mind! One of my stitching friends who also quilts pointed out to me that she has spent a lot of money over the years at one of the quilt shops that has been giving away free things to flosstubers. She said that shop never gave her anything free and has decided not to buy from them anymore.

Oh Shanda, your words today were a wonderful gift (It's my 70th birthday) I have been getting quite disillusioned with floss tube and was considering not watching anymore. Even some of my favorite tubers have become more ads for etsy shops than stitching channels. I love to see haul but enough is enough. I felt more pressure to buy things I do not need and start as much as possible than the joy to stitch as I did when I first found floss tube. Several months ago I stopped trying to stitch several projects every day and just relaxed with one project at a time, stitching for about a month on each and I'm making great progress and feel less frantic. I also feel the same about quilting. Back when I started there were no kits. It was so enjoyable to find fabrics that worked together from my stash....a little fabric from my grandmothers dress or a blouse that I had made. Those are the quilts I treasure the most. Not the projects where someone else decided for me. Bless you dear Shanda! I had to laugh when you said that your His Eye Is On The Sparrow was a long term projects! Today, for my birthday start, I have put the first stitches in Dutch Beauty! At 70 years, that's crazy! Love what you do for us and thank you for creating a sane and relaxing place to visit.

Thank for your new "format". I could care less about what fabric cross stitchers purchase or what charts they add to their stash, but I do love to see projects being worked on or completed. May I suggest a short episode of "stitching from the past" because you have such beautiful quilts, wallhangings, and finished cross stitch projects. Loved the picture you inserted of your quilt cabin, what beautiful stacks of primitive fabric. Looking forward to future floss/quilty tubes.

Really enjoyed your new format. I'm glad it's not just me that feels like there is too much haul showing. I do like to see if a friend has made a gift but more charts and linen seems like bordering on hoarding. I've stopped watching a couple of floss tubers for that reason. I made the black cat and pumpkin years ago and it's a favourite.

I love your prairie points!! I won’t miss haul and happy mail at all, but love seeing all your stitching, wool, and quilting. I like your discussions about it all and about your homes and those gorgeous Idaho mountains. My husband and I are easterners who retired to Utah some 15 years ago. First living at the base of the Wellsvilles, looking out over Cache Valley, and now closer to the kids in the Wasatch Back. I’ve driven through much of Idaho, but not spent a lot of time there. I’m waiting for the roof colors for Grateful, Thankful, Blessed, planning to also do the words in the lighter color. I’ve only done one Stacy Nash, the drum - I think it’s Gathering Summer - but the two you have are both high on my list to do. She is marvelous. I so enjoy your flosstubes and look forward to seeing you in November.

So glad you decided on a new format. I have often wondered when haul is shown in so many videos, are stitchers pressured to buy or they feel badly if it isn't within their budget so I am glad you made that decision and will not miss "stitching kindness" either. I like to see what you are stitching or what you have finished. I am here for the stitching. Love the video and no need to worry about tutorials. I think there are plenty of those available as well. Just keep on stitching and finishing cross stitch, quilting and other. I hope more floss tubers will follow your lead. Good job. So enjoy seeing you. Cheers, Norma in Boise.

I think as many have said, it does become a bit of an ad for their products. I love haul and wips because I learn of different things, designers. And love watching all your wips, plans, patterns. But yes happy mail at times does get to be advertising. Lol yes heard about the turkey feathers on Olivias flosstube. Lol Shanda love your videos, your intros are awesome, back ground and everything you show. Love new format idea as well. Wow the corn, yes what an awesome idea! Lol too cool really realistic. Love your philosophy stitch more, kit less finish. I agree, it’s fun to start but so many say why haven’t i finished this i love it.. this year was to be about me as 2020was 2 big projects for my kids.then this yr ended up being stockings. So once the second is done next yr,unless a new baby arrives.lol next yr is my yr! I bought no new patterns this yr but developed cataracts so haven’t stitched as much. Second eye will be done mid nov.so been planning what to get back to in jan and also keep the 2/3 rd done stocking in rotation.

Shanda it’s always a joy to see your videos! I stitched that wool crow many years ago too and it’s a favorite piece of mine. I loved the Lidya sampler and went ahead and ordered the book while it was still available...thank you for that enabling! Blessings, Marlene

I have that same red ware crow kit. I’ve wanted to get it finished, I’m sure it wont take too long. I should just get it out and get it done. You’ve inspired me. LOVE the quilt. And those are two of my favorite quilt books, I’ve made most the the quilts in Kathleen’s book.

I feel like some floss tubes have become one long commercial- I respect the time people put into their flosstubes but c’mon! Thank you for your stand

Love the idea of just focusing on the "meat" of your videos. Most often, I personally am not really interested in what others purchase, except when I want to order the pattern!! LOL Prairie Points!! I just finished an appliqued cushion of a butterfly and was looking for a way to add that finishing touch. Again, thanks soooooo much, Shanda. But then I love everything you do!! During the intro on your videos you have featured a few Anthology blocks? Well shame on me for setting it aside and doing other projects. How far along are you. Do you plan to show your progress (joining the rows, etc.) or just the blocks and show it when you're done? So glad you're back and love your scheduling. Take care and hugs from Canada!!

@@shandastitchinginidaho Wow!!! You really deserve bragging rights for that! Well, when you're ready, I hope to be able to see it. I'm 1/2 done. This is my year to finish projects (both quilting and stitching). I'm finding fabric that I don't know why I bought it or which project it's for!! LOLOL But Anthology will have to wait till 2022. Have a rest of your evening!!

Cutting down the number of videos & time! This is bad. I love everything you talk about the books, cooking, fabric, the way you make thoughtful gifts & those beautiful trips by the train .. if you are going to make a video per month make it long at least 💔 please reconsider

I would like to try stitching something on 18 count linen. How many strands of floss do you use?
@shandastitchinginidaho

2 Strands over 1 thread is typical on 18 count. Be careful - you’ll get hooked!!♥️♥️♥️

Thank you for a shorter video. I find the long ones boring and freq fast forward through all the chatter. I do enjoy seeing haul but cant believe how much people buy in such a short space of time. Agree with others about the stitchy kindness, I personally dont need to see that. Enjoyed your video.and like the tone of your voice .
